Well technically both Blackburn and DP had their careers cut short by injury. Don't know if those would constitute a fail.

I dont think Rick Dipietro is a fail- is he not still pleasantly employed by the Islanders??  I know Yashin just came off the books a week or so ago  |

I have heard this argument before. How many first rounder goalies that are good starters do it playing for the team that drafted them. I don't think its many. Carey Price is the one that sticks out but other than that there isn't many. |

I have heard this argument before. How many first rounder goalies in the last while actually when they did succeed in becoming a NHL actually do it playing for the team that drafted them. I don't think its many. Carey Price is the one that sticks out but other than that there isn't many.

Fluery.
Not many though. And even guys drafted second round are not panning out as hoped.
Bunz was thought to be a good pick up at the time. Goalies are just so hard to predict.

Fleury gets a bad rep because of his playoff failures.
In his last 6 seasons he's ranged anywhere form .905 to .921 and he's won 30 games in 4 of those last 6, he didn't hit that plateau once because of an ankle injury that cost him 27 games and another because of a lockout.
He's a much different animal in the playoffs ranging from .834 to .933 over the same time span. One of his pluses is his contract where he's only making 5.75 for the next four seasons when he will only be 34, I'd rather have that than one of these goalies pulling in 6+ million. |
