Leafs fans seemed pretty nice to me. - HonkyTonkMan
We're a pretty amicable bunch, as long as you don't ride in as Iggysbff's bff with guns blazing... (tbh though I have no issue with him, but he REALLY knows how to get people riled up!)
And even then, some of us just come on by other thread when the going gets ridonkulous... |

They need to wait for Nurse to develop to get that dynamic top pairing guy, but there are other guys who may be available to help shore up the defense. Beauchemin would be a good mentor for the kids if he will take a 2 year deal. Sekera would help, Ehrhoff would help, Green would be alright if managed properly. - Dangles13
Wizneiwski, Jbo maybe if poopinkirk, anyone maybe in FLA?, SJ cutting salary?, another guy I wonder is Seidenberg.
I don't think we'll get a #1, even a #2 is going to be tough. But we must start adding guys that can help our better players play more minutes. Essentially what we needed for Petry, just someone to share the load. Now we essentially need 2 Petry's and even that we still need a lot of help |

There are guys out there who could use a change of scenery and some teams do need to shed salary, along with Chiarelli's penchant for making trades this could be an exciting Summer for Oilers fans. |

they are one step up from Chicago fans in my books, that is just from what I saw in the Hawks threads this year.

If I am PC I actually dont trust alot of the Oiler scouting... Much is yet to be proven really- and as far as MacT well its likely he liked his approach- still though I dont get that (frank)ing set up... Katz must need huge write off- cause he is ever expanding the leadership and management portfolio... keeps people in token jobs... I guess for continuity... What is happening with McLellan and his coaching staff any thoughts? - saskoil21
The short of it is you can't fire everyone right now. I really don't think MacT is a (frank)ing idiot, he's just (frank)ing useless as a GM. I won't be surprised if MacT spends another 5+ years with us to be honest.
It's funny for the longest time it was Stu the magnificent bastard. Then it was Stu the useless bastard. But now look what happened after MacT mandated that Nelson use the kids more than vets in OKC. We are seeing guys actually showing why they were drafted. Even a guy like Curtis Hamilton, I doubt he ever becomes much if anything but he was (frank)ing awful. This season all of a sudden he had some damn good reviews. How quickly things can change when you make the right decisions.
As for coaching, I don't really give a poop to be honest. I never understood what assistants really did anyway. I mean I know what they do, but they are just puppets for the head coach. It's no different than my scouting example. You tell Ramsay to run a PP one way and it doesn't work, whos fault is it? The key is we now have a proven guy that can run a bench and whoever he brings in I'll be happy. I do wonder what's happening with that Brandon owner as I thought he was rumored to be looking at Toronto and then we apparently were in talks as well. Toronto isn't an option now, so maybe we are. Although I can't remember if that was for coaching or what the (frank). |

In regards to MacT sticking around you mean? Chiarelli probably genuinely wanted someone around who knows the West, PC has spent his entire career on the East and could use a sorta guide. - Dangles13
That's what scares me. How much of certain guys has he saw? Especially some of these young goalies that were potentially available. |

An interesting tidbit.
Who the (frank) did MacT know when he took over as GM? Who did he have a professional relationship with? Could be what hurt us as well. |

The way he's been talking I don't think he trades any of the stars, at least he isn't proactively trying to trade them as far as I can tell. |

poop from his playing days? Damn near everyone in management, I would say. Mac T was no stranger to the boys, that wasn't his issue. |

Almost all of his professional experience has come with the Oilers and almost all of his advice is coming from either guys who trained him or have the same brain as him. I do think Chiralli has a bigger network and a nice reputation around the league. I brought this up before and it's nice to see someone on the same page as me. |

Just because he played with some guys doesn't mean he was close with them or even talked to them. |

Who did he play with that is with another organization? And if they were elsewhere how come they weren't hired to work for us like the other 55 ex-oilers? |
