I think they should try to package that 16th with Marincin/Schultz for a top pairing defender, try to trade a 2nd/3rd for a goalie and then try to sign one of the top defensemen via free agency. - Dangles13
I wonder if they move 16,33, Marincin and Pouilot and end up with Lucic and a d-man.
Two separate deals of course.
Now I by no means want to move Pouilot, but he was MacT's guy. Lucic was/is PC guy. |

I wouldn't say that. A good portion of their team was built internally. I think what he's not afraid to do is pull that trigger and bring in proven vet talent at the cost of picks/prospects. As much as he moves guys they still have Lundqvist, Krieder, Hayes, Hagelin, Staal, Miller and others on the club. They'd still have Callahan but flipped him for St.Louis, so it's not at all that bad. - Lahey
I think they do a good job at adding talent but they make more trades than any other franchise* and they are perennially a Cup contender so it is expected that they would sacrifice picks/prospects for a chance to win now. Bad comparison on my part as the Rangers and Oilers are not at the same point right now.

PC did also acquire Pouliot before so they do have some history. I see more picks/prospects being used to help teams shed some salary where they can. |

Flyers are a damn good example. They don't add those pieces where are they? I'm not expecting to be contenders by any means, but we were (frank)ing awful. Just getting Mcdavid and Mclellan isn't solving a whole heck of a lot. Maybe we get lucky with free agency, but that's a tough one to bank on going into the draft.

It's really tough to be honest with you. Lots of movement in coaches/gm's. You then have a team like STL who are going to be doing some sort of tweak. Other teams with the economy might have a slashed budget.
Who knows. |

Why the (frank) are we talking about picks for picks at all. It should be picks and prospects for proven assets.
Even if this is better than 2003 how long did it take Parise, Getzlaf, Burns, Kesler, Richards and Perry to make impacts?
Parise his 4th year
Getzlaf 4th year
Burns 5th
Kesler 5 or 6?
Richards 5th
Perry 4th
Do we really have that kind of time? Only to find out we got a Bernier, Fehr, Nilsson or Eaves type?
I just don't know that people realize how long we are going to be waiting for these guys to make any sort of impact. - Lahey
Completely agree... Lets start winning and planning of the (frank)ing parade |

Well certainly not the fans that post here. The only way to know is to make 29 calls every few days prior to the draft. |

Lol, I wouldn't go that far. I just look at how putrid this team has been. We have a lot of holes that should've been filled sooner, but weren't.
Here's the other thing. You are PC, how the (frank) do you even go into a draft with a bunch of guys that you never really talked to before? It does sound like he liked MacT's draft process so maybe he's okay with our scouts, but I could see how he just says (frank) it and trusts his own pro scouting ability and moves those valued picks. |

They need to wait for Nurse to develop to get that dynamic top pairing guy, but there are other guys who may be available to help shore up the defense. Beauchemin would be a good mentor for the kids if he will take a 2 year deal. Sekera would help, Ehrhoff would help, Green would be alright if managed properly. |

If I am PC I actually dont trust alot of the Oiler scouting... Much is yet to be proven really- and as far as MacT well its likely he liked his approach- still though I dont get that (frank)ing set up... Katz must need huge write off- cause he is ever expanding the leadership and management portfolio... keeps people in token jobs... I guess for continuity... What is happening with McLellan and his coaching staff any thoughts? |

In regards to MacT sticking around you mean? Chiarelli probably genuinely wanted someone around who knows the West, PC has spent his entire career on the East and could use a sorta guide. |
