While this is very much an open forum, you're stepping into one with an existing and tightly knit group. Let's make an example of this in real life for sake of clearing up the situation:

You're at a bar and there's this group of guys at a table who are always loud and rambunctious and you can't help but overhear them. They're often there when you are so as a result, you begin to pick up on the gist of their conversations. Over time, you begin to mull over the idea of joining them in their antics as you seem to see some similarities and common interests. Then comes the day you decide to join up. You head over to the table and overhear them mocking one of the others in the group. For reasons I'm not at liberty to comment on, you chime in defense of the guy without realizing he's one of the members that doesn't often show up. Suddenly, you've drawn the ire of the most boisterous group members for the sake of defending one of those who isn't really part of the group.

Do you see the picture I'm painting? When the first thing you try to do when you willingly join an existing group of people is attempt to change them, you're not likely to get very far with them. In fact, you could say that stepping in like that was a disrespect to them and, as such, they have a negative opinion of you- regardless of your good intentions. Even though I disagree with what they do, this is the internet; there are few ways to force people to change when you don't even know the person.

It just sucked all around for Edmonton. I understand why it fetched a 2nd and not a first but put it in contrast to Sekera and Coburn who each fetched a first. Petry is better than both of them IMO.

Just sucks that there was little to no interest in a player that may not even sign with your team. On paper the trade sucks, but it's the best MacT could've got.

That is a terrible deal. The market for goalies is not in your favour, there are too many available and if your team is moving one it is likely because they need to and GMs will take advantage of that.

I haven't seen enough of Smith to exactly make that call. But I quickly glanced at his stats and they're far better than Marincin's. Also has been in the league longer.

If we lose Ebs, we can't lose Yak, and vice versa. I don't want to lose either. A top two d-man, of which we REALLY need that number one spot covered, is going to impossible this off season unless we go after Phanoof. And no thanks. Thats not worth Eberle.

What we might need to do is get by with a top 4 that consists of 2-3 dman types for a while while Nurse and or Klef get groomed.
