No. Just a bit of a control freak.

My buddy gave me one of his old cell phones-guy always has the latest, had some pics of his wife on there. They weren't there for long.

Not today anyway.

This is a bit old. Never heard the part about the reffing and what they say to the players/teams. That bit from Bieksa where he ends up saying, "I say too much sometimes."

Listen To Glen Healy talk is one of the most painful things to listen to.

He just starts talking about some random thing with no idea of how it relates to hockey.

She is away for the week. Just coming up with excuses to treat myself to whatever I want and what the teen son will go along with. We had hot dogs and spinach pizza last night (the veggie). Tonight it is the rest of the hot dogs 3/split and a rack of ribs and coleslaw on the side (veggie).

I think I am covering all the food groups.

Steamworks pale ale, and I bought that BC BLACK Malbec we were discussing in a previous thread. Beautiful weather to boot.

And when the control freak is back and sees the 15 lbs you gained over the week then what? You ll be eating kale and diet v8 for next 3 weeks.

that is the perpetual question, how this guy keeps his job is beyond me - obviously he has photos of the head of CBC fondling yaks. Just hearing the guy's voice makes me gag. Him, Stock and Kypreos are the biggest douche-bags on television.

PJ Stock is hilarious if anybody questions his immense hockey knowledge he drops the same comeback each time.

So to carry over the conversation we were having-- Which one of the guys listed in that article spent 5-10 years seasoning in the minors?

The reason I made the statements I did is that the AHL is not the NHL-- While experience ( see also: repetitions ) helps a player they will get to a point where they are not progressing. They plateau.

At a certain point you have to get them into the NHL so they can continue to progress and adapt with the speed.

Hockey in its most stripped back form is decision making at a high rate of speed and execution.

It's harder to develop the former when continually playing at a slower pace.

- rugdnit

Well from what I understood from our last conversation you wanted the tampa model because they have a sort of 2-3 year model you believed. Instead of the detroit model that is 4-5 years.

It really doesn't matter what team the prospect plays for. In the end if your nhl ready, the team will do there best to bring you up into the nhl. The talk was about developing players, if teams were not going to develop players then every 18 year old would be drafted and then inserted into the nhl line up. Whether it takes a player 1 or 5 years in the Ahl. If your not nhl ready, your not going to be up playing and learning as your going.

I don't know of any single prospect that is in the minors and has been dominating it for years. I can't even remember a prospect destroying the minors and not been given a chance.

Guys like Connor McDavid show while they are in juniors that they are nhl ready. Bust's like Patrick Stefan who knows what he could have done if he went to the minors instead of the nhl.

Mike Hoffman played 1, 3, 25 games in the nhl in separate seasons. All while scoring 49, 28, 67 in the minors. Until this season where he scored 48 in 79 games. at 25 he finally made the nhl for a full season.

Tyler Johnson played 2 full season in the AHL at a PPG. Played only 14 games and scored 6 in his first pro season then jumped to 50 and now 72. he's now 24.

So two players from 2 different systems, took different paths to the NHL but our both 6 and 7 years out of junior.

It certainly wasn't Benning's finest moment. Right from the time he was signed I thought it was a huge mistake and a waste of cap money which could have been spent on some more secondary scoring.

Im with ya there. Never thought it was great or even needed signing. Lack is much better than the poopty defense we have has some believe. Hes excellent positional goalie And has potential to be the franchise player like luo was.

Personally id have spent the $ on defense. Its getting thin. With the cap issue if there arent moves made We'll have to rely on the youngsters.....n im ok with that. Id like to see them move salary (miller and if necessary higgins) and get a good puck moving D man while retaining mathias.

I think every D core should have

A great skating Dman that can move the puck by passing or skating.

A big shot Dman

A stay at home Dmen

A tough fighting Dman

And two reliable jack of all trade Dmen

is it better if you can find a defender with more then one of these qualities?

Yah, defense or secondary scoring. Either way the money used on Miller could have really helped us with one or perhaps even both of these needs. I never understood the signing, although fortunately it's only for a shorter term. Still, it just isn't panning out and the quicker we get his cap hit off the books the better. I have no problem with having Lack as the starter. He showed he can handle the work load if need be.

It would be a successful summer if we could obtain a quality puck-moving defenseman or, as touched on, a decent secondary scorer, and that will be a lot easier if we move Miller (and/or Higgins etc) as soon as we can.

He's certainly done quite well thus far in his pro career. It will be interesting to see how far he can take the Caps, now having quite a bit of offensive talent to work with as opposed to when he was with Nashville.

Here's a question , with Letangs health and salary for the next 4 years would you trade Edler for Letang? You get one of the best offensive Dmen in the game but his health is a question.

I read a report today , he was ready to come back in the Playoffs , but Pens didn't want to push him.

MY question is would it be smart to get rid of Miller and not have a number 1 goalie on our team with our defence that is suspect. without secondary scoring. I feel like i'm talking about the oilers now.

I don't see anyone taking Miller. I think he is here to stay
