Especially when the current NHL roster is slow, full of holes, little offensive output, and soft.
What would you lose by removing the 4.5 million dollar Bieksa or Sbisa and trying Pedan or COrrado.
I still like Sbisa and will wait until he has a new partner before kicking him to the curb - VANTEL
Not to beat a dead horse, but I saw all I needed when Bieksa, Edler and Hammer were all out due to injury. |

Yup. Pretty pathetic. No heart.
Last night just confirmed why my grandfather used to say--
I wouldn't cross the street to watch a fight. - rugdnit
Im never watching boxing again. Far too much politics involved. Ofcourse the three American judges are going to make sure Mayfukker keeps his unblemished record.
These are the reasons boxing is next to extinct. |

Edler is a very good defenceman, he's just not an offensive wizard like most expected him to be after a good start to his NHL career. He's a very good 3/4 guy on a great deal at 5 million per.
Guy played some tough minutes for the club and did really well at it. It's the fact we don't have the horses ahead of him that makes him look bad, that's not his fault and he shouldn't be called down because of it. |

Last year was a wash IMHO. Edler is a good D-Man. Is he what he was 4 years ago? thats debatable. However is still very serviceable, and can play a prominent role on this team.
What sucks is after the couple suspensions hes got, he looks afraid to throw his weight around.
Ed's needs to get his physical play back.
Watching him pound people in the LA series like 4-5 years ago was incredible.
If he can get that element of play back into his game. Our d-line looks a little better. |

I'm not sure physical play is part of the coach and managements vision as it is with teams like CAL ANA LA.

I am OK with Hamhuis too-- I was more making the point that a cobbled together D core performed better. |

That's why they drafted Virtanen and not Ehlers...size matters. |

As the roster stands now, no. The CAL series exposed that.

I think every D core should have
A great skating Dman that can move the puck by passing or skating.
A big shot Dman
A stay at home Dmen
A tough fighting Dman
And two reliable jack of all trade Dmen |

Calgary exposed what? Flames are going to get exposed pretty bad against the Ducks.
The Ducks are going to impose their will on the Flames, no matter how fast the Flames are. They are going to get pushed around.
I really don't understand why so many are upset the Canucks lost to the Flames. |

It was suppose to be a winnable series, we really didn't come that close. |

~Bieksa needs to be replaced by a younger version (tough, fighting).
~Hopefully Subban fills that role some day (big shot).
~A (skating, puck moving) D is missing big time, that role will be tough to fill. |

Ehlers and Shinkaruk had similar PPG in junior, factoring in Hunter played in a much tougher league. |

This year I just didn't think WD knew how to counter the forecheck and gritty play. |

Zone time was kinda sorta even, although the Sedins dominated, we just don't have any offensive horses, especially on "D", or defensemen that can play defense outside of Edler and Tanev.
And their goaltending was better than ours. |

Shink had a rough start this year , surgery . He has come along nicely as of late, not to mention Sven has 5 pts in 4 games in the PO . This is why I don't see the need to keep rolling out Higgins Burtows |

Anyone who thought that Calgary was winnable series is seriously delusional about where the Canucks are at. |
