Yeah they are old, youth is needed. It's hard because Van has been a good team for a while and didn't help they sucked at drafting. Last 5 first round picks look like they could pan out though. - manvanfan
I was somewhat kidding with you about Maroon... He's been a beast in hiding for some time. He just couldn't get a fair shake in Philly ( may have had some attitude problems ). He's been a beast for the Ducks wherever the put him.
Most guys after 6 years just give up or languish. You gotta' find a way to get them in the lineup and give them a chance. It's the coaches job to set them up for success by finding the right linemates.
How does Jon Cooper have so much success with those kids? 3 years ago Steven Stamkos was absolutely dominant. With those kids there... Nobody is really talking about Stammer and the numbers speak for themselves. The D Core is pretty damn solid and Hedman has really emerged-- So there is a guy that has taken 5 years, but he has been with the club from day one-- No seasoning. |

I hope your kidding about Maroon too. You talk about giving guys a shot then why did Anahiem give him only 13 games and keep him in the AHL in his first season with the club? Because he wasn't ready and 29 and 37 is not beast at all imo.
Yeah I got it wrong after he was traded Anaheim had him in the minors for three years. anahiem clearly thought the same as philly. He wasn't ready |

Yah, defense or secondary scoring. Either way the money used on Miller could have really helped us with one or perhaps even both of these needs. I never understood the signing, although fortunately it's only for a shorter term. Still, it just isn't panning out and the quicker we get his cap hit off the books the better. I have no problem with having Lack as the starter. He showed he can handle the work load if need be.
It would be a successful summer if we could obtain a quality puck-moving defenseman or, as touched on, a decent secondary scorer, and that will be a lot easier if we move Miller (and/or Higgins etc) as soon as we can. - Zogg
D is the glaring need.....and a better defense coach while we're at it.
I honest am pretty content w the current forwards. However not the system they use, its flawed. Sedins slow down the play way too much. Much harder to score like that, which is why mathias is so effective on our teaM. He uses speed goes straight to the net and puts it in. The exact opposite of the sedins. They would pile up points if they would just push towards the net instead of braking as soon as they enter the zone. Speed scores goals period. |

Did McCann and virtanen only get 2 year deals? Or is there no entry level slide anymore? |

This is the problem I have with the Canucks!
Although Coburn’s disipline gave the Lightning a four-minute man advantage, Don Cherry says the 6-foot-5, 220 lb. defenceman should have stood up for himself and let Prust have it.
“I will never, ever want one of my players acting like Coburn here,” Cherry said. “This is Sedin stuff.”

Stuck behind guys with a contract? Injury?
Carlyle?
Boudreau gave him a chance and he ran with it.
You want to argue for the sake of arguing. That's cool. |

So you actually believe 2 different organizations both had too many players with contracts that he couldnt play? I'm trying to help you understand that the reason why some players play in the minors longer is because the NHL team feels they are not ready yet.

Is the Comstock still open? Do they still have that NY Steak special? - VanHockeyGuy
I think they have been closed for 20 years.
Clint Malarchuk might know since he is a Horse Dentist based out of Minden.
I'm actually from the Kootenays, but spent some time in Reno ( left years ago ).
I think it's funny how people treat you based on where your profile says you are*

Let's argue with a guy from Reno... He couldn't possibly know anything more than us Canadians... It's our sport. |

I'm going to try and help you understand--
Maroon got an opportunity later because, Boudreau liked him.
He had all the tools.
Carlyle is an ass. Don't ask me how I know |

A D that won't get pushed around, that's all I will say on that. Secondly, size and a bit of a nasty streak. Lastly as Vantel suggested yesterday a puck moving, skating D with a point shot. |

Enough that he should have displaced Richardson, they need to bring someone in to push him if he doesn't re-sign this summer. |

He's a young guy, but he does need to work on that. Need's a solid summer of working out and honing his skills. |
