Only thing I want out of Toronto is JVR.
Sutter + Dumoulin/Harrington + Bennett + a pick next year for JVR.
Lupul could be an alright pick up, although he is more brittle than brittle Beau, and cost 5 times more than him and is 31. |

Same. I dont think your offer would work though. We need depth and that would remove two bottom six guys. I'd look into that in the offseason though. |

Hell no on Lupul.
Two players having miserable years, unproven prospects and a pick is not nearly enough for JVR. Why would they move him anyway? He'd be one of very few players on that team that they should keep. |

Start with Maatta/Pouliot/Kapanen and go from there... JvR is like Lucic in that both are seen as immortal gods by their own team. |

I'd have to agree with you here. They need a center and they also like Bennett and our d prospects. Pouliot is off the table unless it were a straight up swap, but cap wise there is no way. |

One of Scuds or Sutter is going back to Toronto otherwise this isn't happening.
Hopefully both. Which I wouldn't rule out considering Toronto will need bodies to play their games during the partial or total rebuild. Sutter and Scuds if nothing else do play a lot of games per year. And for their combined price would fill two positions on a team balancing acquiring pics and prospects with playable NHLers. Harrington is the piece that makes the deal worthwhile for Toronto. And IF Lupul can be healthy makes the deal worthwhile for Pitts (Lupul is good but he averages 50 and isn't getting younger).
Scuderi/Sutter/Harrington for Lupul/Holland. |

They are going into a rebuild, they like BB and our D prospects which GMJR says are almost unmovable, which I agree with. They also need a center. A pick also helps the rebuild. |

Lupul is not a "soft" hockey player. He gives it his all and gets to the dirty areas. Thats part of the reason he gets injured so much. So yes, he's brittle in that he gets injured but he leaves it all out on the ice.
Also, why are you here? Go back to your Blues blog and write about all your Stanley Cups.

I'm very high on Pouliot to but there is no way in hell he's an even swap at this point with JVR. They can have Sutter or Bennett but they wouldn't be the center piece. |

If I recall correctly weren't Lupul's like last 3 injuries inflicted by his own teammates? I agree he's not a soft player in his game he's injury prone. If they Take Sutter or Scuds back I think he makes us a better team |

Agreed. He is not soft. And he has to play a heavier game that he should on a garbage Toronto team.

Furthermore from my post above, JvR is on an awesome contract. I think you are underestimating his value. |

I really don't know how we could free up 5M in cap space. Maybe trading both Sutter and Scuderi. But I don't see the penguins parting with either, especially before the Trade deadline. Also, Toronto wouldn't want Scuderi, they are looking for picks or prospects so we would have to free cap space first and than acquire Lupul on a separate trade. Risky.

Toronto has to take Scuderi or retain 30-50% of Lupul's salary for anything to work so what we would give Toronto would be largely dependent on how the deal is structured. Lupul @ 50% retained is a great bargain, regardless of injuries. |

And would cost a hell of a lot to acquire him at that rate. |

He has some strange fascination with me and follows me to every blog I visit (check out his info). I appreciate it and all, but it's very creepy how obsessed he is with me. |

Yeah... for every bit of money Toronto holds back or any salary dump they are taking back, that will raise the cost to get him.
Why would they trade him to Pittsburgh if they have to eat money, if they can trade him somewhere else for a comparable return and not have to eat salary? |

He follows me to every blog and has some odd fascination/obsession with me (check out his info). It's very flattering and I appreciate it to an extent, but it's actually very creepy to have a man I've never met become so obsessive with me.
But I agree, Lupul does not play a "soft" game. He gets injured but he plays a game very similar to 2008-era Chris Kunitz, and is surprisingly physical (when healthy). |
