I don't get why any team would want Lupul. Soft, injury prone, big contract, and more interested in his off-ice life than what he does on the ice.
Why would the Penguins trade for him. |

I'm still interested in why he's considered "soft." |

He's the type of guy you hate and feel the need to punch repeatedly on the other team, and love and feel the need to punch repeatedly on your team. |

Because he gets hurt people are calling him soft. They haven't watched him play. I've never got that impression |

That is the asking price, right?
2nd and a prospect or B+ prospect/C prospect? Just saying I could see GMJR cough it up come crunch time. |

"Soft" and "injury prone" are totally separate issues. When he's healthy, he's surprisingly strong and doesn't shy away from the muck work and isn't afraid to get hit. |

That is severe overpayment for a third line pending UFA that isn't a difference maker. Those are the types of deals that have led to our shortcomings within the organization. Stupid moves like this don't allow us to develop any good options in the case of injury. |

Agree. But the fact remains he is a huge risk at a poopty contract. When he's healthy? That isn't too often. Much like Hemsky was. |

Asking was reported as a second, which is an over payment alone. GMJR said the D prospects are pretty much untouchable. |

Well, Hemsky is soft, at least compared to Lupul. But I agree with you. |

I agree with both but as these depth guys get picked off by contenders what's a GM to do? He is totally handcuffed... no assets... no cap space.
All while believing this team still needs some "pieces" |

Bergenheim just went for a 3rd (with a 7th going back). No way is Winnik more valuable than Bergenheim.

I agree but back to my original post, does getting outmatched and outplayed (again) by WSH tonight change that? STL and FLA were good wins but I think he still has his finger close to the red button |

I don't think so. Winnik can be had in the off season for cheap. He's not worth a second rounder. |
