That contract is terrible. I thought the Pens needed to find ways gain some cap room. |

What would he cost though... Sutter... 2016 1st... And Harrington? I'd do next off season... This year? Him and sekeea for martin sutter 2016 1st Harrington .... They could flip martin. |

What's the incentive once Eric is traded? That's what's going to happen. |

Things to consider:
1. Doesn't Staal have a NMC, why would he want to be a 3C in the prime of his career?
2. Would CAR really want Sutter as part of the package? Probably not. They are rebuilding and Sutter does not offer that at all.
3. Still need to replace the entire 4th line next year and whatever other players you send the other way to CAR. Also figure out the D moving forward (Martin, Hoff).
4. What if Dupes comes back? Thats another $3.5 on the books
5. Resign Comeau?
6. Can DP and Dumo handle full time duty? Debatable.
All these considered, paying $6mil for a 3C doesn't seem like a smart move. |

Even though it is a lengthy deal, J.Staal is a superb player who is only 26. Totally worth the commitment.
I thought the Pens needed to find ways gain some cap room.
To add quality players, and Staal certainly is one of those. Having him on your third line poses just as much - if not more - of a threat as having a bunch of above average players (which is what that money would have been used for it).
Needless to say, I am a huge proponent of bringing J.Staal back. That said, it all depends on Francis' asking price. Could JR offer what he would want in return? |

The cap doesnt apply the Pens remember, nor do calling penalties on them...you know, the league plays favorites to them. |

That's 2 top 4 defenders coming off the books. You'll have to spend money to replace them. |

It just amazes me...a person mentions something, a rumor is generated, and then people just run with it. No evidence required. Amazing. |

Tell me what contending team can afford to add Eric's 8.5 million dollar salary? Even if Carolina keeps 50% of it, which would never happen with how cheap that team is. |

One of the team's beat writers said they wanted him back. That's not a rumor. That's fact. Unless you think Yohe was lying. Which i guess is possible. |

Rob Rossi said last week the Rangers were talking to Carolina bout Jordan Staal to. To bad there is a salary cap and stuff and people don't need 2 seconds of thought before typing something. |

Just bring back all former Penguins. The fascination this fanbase has with that is amazing. $6 million for a 3C? No freaking way.
People laughed when he got that deal. He's done nothing in Carolina. |
