They seriously put 14 back with 87? This is ridiculous.
How does that line look? - sammy87
It was only a shift or two. Start of the third was right back to Perron, Sid and Horny. They've been electric the whole game. |

Downie is wasting away on the 4th line, he should be on the third line with Bennet and Sutter |

I think Kuni ended up on that line after a penalty, it was only for a shift |

Bennett needs to pick it up. He was slow and soft the entire game. It sucks to have Sutter as your center, but last couple of games he's been a ghost. |

So as long as the queermo rangers lose we are in 2nd in the metro again, third if they win, anything beats being in the wildcard spot, especially now when they finally have the lines almost right and Crosby and Malkin are playing well. |

I disagree. Beau consistently made smart plays. Good with out the puck. Yes he is soft.....but give him time. I think he is top 6 material. If Blake wasn't doing as good as he is I would say put Beau there |

Would not be surprised if Beau is moved at the deadline. They said the front office was watching these 2 games very closely and decisions would be made tomorrow. I don't think they expected the Pens to play so well though. Someone on here suggested Sutter and Bennet for Mathias and Kassian, I like that move a lot for the playoffs and with Kapanan likely making the team next year we don't really need Beau as they are similar players. Be nice to have Kapanan, Sundquist, Maatta and Bluegers all available next year finally. |

I made the sutter + Bennett for Kassian + Matthias but Kassian and Matthias have been on a tear lately so i doubt that trade is possible. Maybe a month ago but if I'm the Canucks I hang up on that offer |

Meh... No shots on goal. I can honestly say Sill was skating around with more authority. I'm a fan of BB, but these last couple of games he's been invisible. It would not surprise me in the least if he's scratched next game.
I don't want to see him traded but that wouldn't surprise me either.
Looks like GlenX has asked for a trade....anyone interested? |

Kassian is still in the dog house there. He was supposed to be a healthy scratch the last game but Burrows couldn't go so Kassian played and scored a couple. And Mattais is a UFA so that deal might still be possible.

Saw this on another post and I think it perfectly sums it up..
acquiring Staal now wouldn't be as bad as it was 3 years ago, and I'm shocked so many people are against it.
1) The winger situation now is infinitely better than it was when Staal was here.
2) Those wingers are on decent contracts, are young, and should be around for a while
3) Brandon Sutter will command a raise. He's not worth it, but he'll get it. It will be to the point where you are paying him within 1 or 2 million of what Jordan Staal is making.
A good 3C nowadays will either be on his ELC/Bridge contract or making 5M. Since Jordan Staal is the best of the best, 6M is right in line.
4) Without Cap Geek it's a bit hard, but I'm almost positive a great purging is not necessary to bring Staal in and maintain roster integrity.
I'm surprised so many people are claiming it does, without doing the math.
5) With Perron, Hornqvist, Comeau, and Bennett, plus Kapanen and whatever other finds they have in the off-season, your top-6 might not be set, but it's the best it's been in quite some time. Meanwhile, the bottom-6 continues to be a mess.
6) I like everything I read about Sundqvist, but it's unrealistic to expect him to be a 15-minute a night guy in his first season. 4C or some winger time should be his destiny for the first two seasons. AND THAT'S OKAY. Jesus, it's fine to have him work his way up. His game sounds tailor made for that.
7) People keep talking about the Penguins' lack of size and physicality. Staal instantly transforms his line. In fact, I would argue that having a 3rd line of something like
Spaling - Staal - Bennett immediately frees up Letang's pair from the "shutdown" role, allows you to use Despres/Scuderi or whoever, and let's Letang, Crosby, and Malkin play much freer roles than they play now. |

I agree on BB, though his centerman has to be considered.
I'd pass on GlenX, he's at 2.25 and looking for a raise, which puts him into the rental category. Also 32. |

I think we need to stop talking about trading for Staal and concentrate on something more important...planing the parade route......
to early ?

Sutter, the 8th overall pick and Doumolin. But the canes would would ask for Sutter and a trash contract back. Yeah ok. - tomburton99
I dont think anyone is suggesting that as trade parameters (unless they are really stupid). The point was Sutter would be part of the trade and then find a way to get rid of salary in another move. That may be buying out or trading Scuds, trading Kunitz for younger pieces, etc. |

That's probably the best post I've seen on acquiring Staal. On a related note, no one will care because the Pens won both games convincingly and are now in 2nd as opposed to 4th in the division, but the forward depth at ES still looks like a liability. |

Dupuis, Staal had Kennedy and Cooke which made one of the best third lines in hockey. Everything else I agree with though, especially that projected third line. If Bennett can be kept he'll be resigned on the cheap. If he's dealt and by the grace of whoever Pascal can come back, that would still be a very solid third line. I'm definitely on board with bringing him back if Pouliot, Depres, and Kapanen are not included. |

This Staal talk needs to stop. Its already been verified that he isnt getting dealt: @TSNAaronWard: Amid Jordan Staal trade rumors, I am told he has been reassured today, by the team, that this speculation is unfounded. #TSN - joescullz
You guys are funny...
"I can't believe you guys believe what some media guy at the Trib says and immediately think its legit!"
two minutes later
"See, I told you, look what this other media guy said...."

Yet so many want Jagr back...
I can't speak for others, but I can say I don't want Staal back for nostalgia but rather flipping from the worst 3rd line center to the best 3rd line center would change the whole dynamic of the team. If the price is right, of course. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Bringing Staal in would give MJ many more options. We'd actually have a shut down line and MJ could rotate Sid/Malkin/Staal through the 4th line on occasion to improve it's production....what is GMJR waiting for?
