Booth only has 3 points in 34 games this year. But it is better to be a decent possession guy with minimal offense than being void of offense and possession like some of the Penguins current options.
- Ryan_Wilson
Well, as long as the fancy graphs look good, who cares about his 3 points in 34 games? |

I think Booth would be a move sideways. Especially if it means stepping in and playing with Sutter. With the top six looking locked up, suddenly nobody wants to come to Pittsburgh to play with their center. |

I think that's the problem with advanced stats right there. |

3 pts in 34 games but he drives possession? That's the selling point?
I don't even know what to say....
If this were the only move to be made, I'd rather stay put. |

Booth is absolutely better than Adams, Sill, and probably Lapierre. Of course, to me, if Sutter is the 3C, the Pens forward depth is going to get destroyed no matter who else they add because he is that bad. |

Booth sucks - DDM-Coga
Yeah... And he's nuts...
Booth was an interesting thought in the summer as one of those value guys you could maybe get, but his play this season has done nothing to make we want to go acquire him now.
But he does seem to enjoy life...

Pretty much made your own argument against fancy stats in this blog.
Same logic applies to BB. |

Any advanced stats on taking penalties in the 1st place. I can see a total number for season which appears to be 2nd highest in league. Would want to look at a more current sample, when penalties are taken, where on ice, which player has which percentage of total (Downie has a ton), type of penalty etc...
I think the leaders of team are still taking too many penalties and probably at bad times. Crosby's trip on Toews and Letang asking for one late really annoys me. Are they going to maintain their poise in the playoffs? Does a further look into the PIM issue discredit my concerns? |

Booth sucks - DDM-Coga
Something RW can't seem to figure out. He throws stuff out there to see if it sticks. Funny thing ... he is less valuable than Craig Adams this year. Booth and his 3 points in 34 games is the answer. LOL.

You haven't watch hockey this year if you think he is better than the players you mentioned. He isn't better than Adams or Lapierre. It's embarrassing that people actually think Booth is an answer. |

No thanks to booth...no thanks to winnik now that I've seen they want 2 picks or a pick and a prospect. Not worth it for a UFA in my books.....might as well throw in a no thanks to Jagr.... |

And when you add in the fact that Toronto will want something in return for him, its really a great idea. err not.

People need to let go of the Winnik deal. We aint getting him unless we severely overpay.
This dude was readily available for a cheap cap hit prior to the season now he's the flavor of the month.
These pre-deadline deals (Perron, Lap, Nas/Tor) have actually driven up prices at this point. Simple supply and demand. Kudos to JR for making a few deals at lower prices already.
Winnik is going to fetch a 2nd and a decent prospect. |

Booth and a 7th for your 6th or 5th (example)
Booth for a Salary dump and a poopty pick or bottom prospect
not like your moving mountains, at worst he takes up a contract spot and eats popcorn |

I'd rather stand pat at this point unless something comes up to move Sutter out for one or two guys. Booth is trash, hes as bad as Adams and Winnik is not worth anyone's second. If JR wanted another depth bottom line guy to replace Charmin™ soft Adams he should have picked one up before the start of the season or quit being a wussy and just send him down for Rust or Farnham already. |

The hatred for Sutter is unreal. He is a bottom 6 guy period. Look around the league....you dont have 3rd centers lighting up the scoreboard. I watch almost every Pens game and i just dont see what all the complaints are about. he has lapses as does every NHL player but IMO he is a solid two way center. He isnt a shut down guy and hes not a perennial 20 goal scorer but hes a serviceable 3rd line center. When you have the contracts of 87/71/58 you have to make do and take lesser value on your lower end guys. I dont think theres an upgrade to be had over Sutter. |

Adams and Sill aren't good AHL players that get killed in possession and are liabilities every minute they are on the ice. Booth won't produce offensively, but at least he won't get outscored horrifically like those two either.

Not sure why some of you are so mad at RW suggestion. Because that's all it is at the end of the day. He is a bottom 6 option that would/should come dirt cheap and the advanced stats (which most of you don't like/don't agree with) point to him as a potential upgrade over what we currently have. Why is that such an egregious offence to some of you to suggest him as a cheap option? I just don't understand the outrage. |

Upgrades are on the roster now. Spaling would be a better 3C than Sutter. Sutter is a 4th liner paid like a 2nd liner. Name a playoff contender with a worse 3C than Sutter. |
