So after watching tonight's game, anyone really think Jiri freakin Tlusty, David Booth, and Danny Winnik are the answer?
Look at the tough rugged FW's the Isles and Caps have developed.
Wilson. Beagle. Laich. Fehr. Nelson. Lee. Okposo. Martin.
Those dudes don't give a crap about possession and fenwick. While all the possession nerds are pulling out their charts and graphs, those cats are mashing faces against the boards, taking the puck, talking trash, and winning games. |

Those guys are fairly good hockey players though.
I do agree we really needed to draft a Wilson, Lowry, Jenner of our own.
3rd line needs the anti-sutter but our 4th line literally just needs to be able to win board battles. |

Pretty simple for me , the best goal scorer in the game would never take a windup like that to shoot the puck. That looks like my lower beer leaguers trying to take a slapshot. |

tlusty & winnik will be costly and not worth it. Booth i would take if its for a late rd pick. I dont think the pens are going to get any big names this deadline. The big fish was Perron but they need a heck of a lot more than him. |

Don't make any dumb deals. DON'T trade our 2nd. I'm not sure this team can be fixed this season. Roll with it and see what happens. Get bigger and stronger in the off-season. |

No not those guys...I was talking about these...
Bortuzzo + ? for Dwight King
Sutter + Dumoulin for Roussel & McKenzie
Spaling for Bergenheim
lastly, fire Tocchet |

What happened to getting guys like Geurin for 5th round picks. I feel like the whole trade market has turned and now contenders are giving up way too much for rentals.
Winnik, should be worth a 5th, 4th at the highest. But with so many contenders and so few sellers, prices get absurd. |

Nope. Just fire Tocchet. - YouMeAndDupuis9
But a lot of people on this board wanted him here even though he never did poop as a coach. I didn't understand the reasoning for it then and I still don't. The guy never did anything yet he was suppose to be the savior on the coaching staff. With all the talent their PP has been an embarrassment for months now after a red hot start. It's ridiculous. |

EVEN if Ovi was going for the puck it was STILL a slash. Why no damn penalty? It was right there for everyone to see. |

Those days are gone apparently. Does anybody think Winnik wins these games for us? I mean, if our stars can't score, they won't win.
My God is our PP bad. Like "all time" bad. |

That's not going to happen. My dream coach is Babcock. A guy with a resume. A guy that commands respect and demands his team plays defense. - madmike71
Someone said they wanted a guy on the bench that would show emotion. Johnson is laughable when he gets pissed. Hell, DB showed more emotion and I thought he didn't show any.
I can't stand Babcock. Think he is simply an ass.

People are infatuated with solving our third line with the Daniel Winnicks or Chris Higgins or Sean Berhenheims of the world. However, none of those guys solve the main problem ... our top two lines can't score and our power play sucks. LOL at those trying to upgrade the third line. That is the least of our problems.

This...Blaming the refs is never an acceptable excuse. Own the fact that you can't put up more goals than the caps and the team just isn't that good. - sammy87
I'm tired of people like you and 87_71_11_29 that say you can't blame the refs, it's just an excuse. Ever since the Sid incident of him slamming his stick on the glass the reffing has been pretty bad. Sure some games not as noticeable as this one but to say this game wasn't one sided on how it was reffed would suggest you were watching another game. I agree the Letang call was right you can't slash and break a stick but the slash from Ovi on Letangs ankle and Malkin getting hooked should have been called. Not to mention the check Kunitz made was a clean hit and that's just some of the bad reffing that happened this game. Yes the PP has to be better no doubt but doesn't mean they don't deserve some calls. You can't tell me there's nothing going on when the Pens are pace for the least amount of PP's and they have 2 of the best players in the game that should be drawing all kinds of penalties. But you probably agree with that poster the other day that the league still protects Sid and the Pens.
How many bad calls in your mind constitutes being able to legitimately blame the refs. There comes a point when the refs are affecting the outcome of a game. Your probably the same person that says you don't want the refs to call penalties in the playoffs cause you don't want them to effect the outcome of the game but in fact by them not calling penalties they're effecting the outcome anyway.
