you guys crack me up sometimes...

"Ryan's blog's are SO annoying because he keeps saying Sutter is bad, he's a good player, just watch the game"

2 weeks later

"OMG Sutter sucks so bad"

- YouMeAndDupuis9

I've almost never seen anyone suggest Sutter is a "good player" other than the most obtuse subjective homer fans. There are still some that think he is an adequate 3C, but even their numbers are dwindling when he gives performances like today where Sutter was exceptionally bad even with Bennett and Spaling playing well. He does NOTHING deserving of his salary and minutes other than have a famous last name in hockey.

Crosby Malkin letang are all pointless in a playoff type game and the only complaints are to sutter.

Having a 3rd line center that maintains possession and drives play, I think we have a different outcome today.

I thought I read somewhere that Spaling was actually a decent center. I think he had one game where he solely played center and it was his best game.

- madmike71

You likely read that when we first acquired him, and Sutter was holding out.

The amount of scoring chances they had make that easier to let go. Not scoring and not being close to scoring is VASTLY different than today, where they could have had 5 goals or more. Crawford played extremely well.

Was going to say the same thing. Top two lines played well, but Crawford was better. I thought BB and Spaling were good and Sutturd was MIA.

The 4th line was trash too by the way. I had to hold my breath every time they were on the ice.

Home ice advantage... They were getting the top 2 against our 4th very often.

I have to laugh. BB has a solid game, his first since the Kennedy Administration and all the sudden he is a long term solution. Is this the type of game that he builds upon, or the blind squirrel notion?

You guys want some real humor? The Penguins facebook page... comments section on the loss, or very likely almost any post.

Holy crap some of the things people spurt out there as fact or what they know.

Going to assume this applies to all team's pages on facebook... silly uneducated fans

ryan--in all seriousness, what would the pens organization consider a successful season? winning the 1st round? there were a lot of moving parts with this gorup grom GM, asst GM to the players on the ice.

It's just funny and hypocritical and now everyone realizes maybe there was actually some value in his underlying possession numbers and the occasional pretty goal is enough to make us want to dismiss the analytic aspect.

I don't like Spaling either, and itd be a big risk putting him as the 3rd C as a pretty unknown commodity. That said, if Sutter is off the books and we have two good players on his wings, it might be a risk I'd be willing to take.

Downie? Surprised they want to move him since this poop organization loves their poop heads. This team is washed up

There was a lot of rage for not having Bennett or Malkin in the shootout over Letang. A few Zach Sill wanters... many fire the coach and GM posts.

4th line with no shots today and another game, no points from them...would be nice to get some secondary scoring from them in a game like that. At least Sill was out of the lineup, now if they could get Adams to follow, that secondary scoring might actually happen more than one time a month.

Give it up, he is an inconsistent young player who has shown supreme talent and vision. I know its hard for guys like you to read the game without goals or assists, but the kid produces scoring chances whenever he is on the ice.
Meanwhile, that hardass 4th line didn't generate a single shot. Not a single shot.

3 straight games Sutters line has been on ice for a goal for only the second time this season. I wonder who was on the ice to help elevate that line?

Did Sutter get a point on any of them. I don't think he did.

That comment is such a half truth. All three of our stars were on their game and played a complete game that drove offense and produced solid scoring chances. The issue was that we couldn't get our boys away from Chicago's best (coaching problem) and Corey Craw had a game in which he actually lived up to his contract (luck problem). The second issue is unavoidable. The first issue could be helped by slightly savier coaching decisions, but would also be fixed if we had better secondary scoring. In that department, Sutter has earned the poop he receives. Bennett was that line today, and I'd say Spaling contributed more to the third line than Sutter did, and not just because of the trash man goal he got off of Bennett's shot. Sutter holds us back, case and point.

Also, something I've been confused about: why was Letang sent out as the third shooter and not Malkin?

Letang over both's career lengths, has been better in the shootout than Malkin. However, I would say this more likely was a very recent change based on their performances in practice.

edit: Meh, bit of a pain to find, however some stats on them for shootouts. Pretty much just says Malkin was struggling this year and neither had a good season for shootouts since 2011-12.

2014-15: Malkin 1 for 5. Letang 1 for 3
Between. they both sucked, both aren't Crosby >_>
2011-12 - Malkin 8 for 11 Letang 2 for 4.
2010-11 Malkin 1 for 3. Letang 3 for 3

No one has said anything about that.

But Sid being protected by the league is really becoming a tired act. If it was Downie or basically anyone else, there likely would be no reversal.

- TommyHawk

Did someone say the word respect?

Some players in the league have it from the zebs, some don't. (zebs, funny word that because in some Arabic dialogues it means penis - so does everyone call the officials penis'?).

Yeah, you're right. Just don't remember him being a factor in those goals. Of course BB deserves both assists for today's goal.

good game today, sucks not to get the win, but given CHI's record when leading after 2... getting them to a SO was good.

i think the penguins were the superior team in the 1st period, i missed parts of the 2nd and 3rd but overall when you hold a team like CHI to one goal, your defense and goaltending was in good shape.

sucks we didnt get one in the first period. lots of good chances just couldnt drive one home.

sutter continues to be awful. i thought bennett and spaling played well together today but Sutter has really been the weak link lately. im not ready to trade him because i dont think it's good to sell low, i think he can turn it around, but just tough to watch him play right now.

i think one bottom 6 option to replace adams and this team is ready to go.
