Can he refuse or get sick just prior? If I recall his last AS game didn't go so well. I like where his head is right now, lets not mess with anything. - all-pgh
It's really no big deal. It's 20 minutes of game time, plus festivities. All a couple hours' drive away.
It's an honor that he should have gotten without Rinne going down. I hope goes and enjoys himself, he's having a great year and deserves it. |

As mentioned in the last thread, IF MAF is not our starter in the playoffs we are F'ed anyways. Trade Greiss for cap space, trade for Jagr, and F Sutter.
WWJJD - nbartley9
MAF needs to sit more games. Griess is the perfect backup on a cheap contract to give him some time off. Also god for bid an injury Griess could be pretty serviceable with our defensive play this year.
Also trading him and sutter still doesnt open up enough cap space for Jagr. Only way we can fit him is if Martin is moved which would be idiotic due to Maatta being out. And who plays third line center if Sutter is gone?
Spaling? No. he should be on the 4th line
Goc? No. See above
You win in the playoffs by having 4 great lines. Having Goc and spaling on the 4th line helps that. Moving sutter screws all that up |

Andrew Ebbett on waivers today...
Interesting that it looks like they will go into this busy 4 games in 6 days stretch with only 12 forwards and 6 defensemen.
I guess the location of the games helps last minute call ups if needed, though. - rival22
Maybe cap related so they can bring Pouliot or Dumoulin back up? Those are the only higher cap hit guys down in WBS other than Megna, which I don't see him getting anymore chances. |

That would create enough cap space. $4.3 million is more than Jagr's $3.5 million. I think moving those two completely defeats any purpose of going and getting Jagr, but the cap wold work. |

God, I can't wait until Comeau and Hornqvist come back. If Ebbett does go down tomorrow, we are left with some combination of these forwards tomorrow night.
Kunitz - Crosby - Perron
Spaling - Malkin - Bennett
Arcobello - Sutter - Downie
Sill - Goc - Adams

Jagr makes 5.5. Not 3.5. Remember it goes by cap hit, not salary.

Two more game played and his cap hit goes to 5.5 |

I pray some team picks up Ebbett, he's just a few years younger version of Craig Adams |

Pretty sure that bonus does not go into his cap hit. I've never seen a cap hit change midseason before. I could be wrong though. |

It shouldn't have taken an injury to get him on that team.
He deserved to be one of the GT's there period. His performance dictated that. |

I rarely agree with you Ryan with regard to Fleury but I agree in this case. He definitely needs some rest (although it looks like he won't be getting it now during the all-star break). Another benefit to playing Greiss more often is that it forces the team to play more responsible team defense. If the team has any bad turnovers or other defensive lapses Greiss is less likely to pull out the miracle saves like Fleury is sometimes expected to do. Team defense and consistency are critical going into the playoffs. I expect Greiss to get a lot of game time in the road trips in Feb. and Mar. and hopefully in any double headers left. |

We could've voted him in....
But who has the amount of time on their hands as the average Chi-towner or Latvian apparently?! |

I know we always don't see eye-to-eye with our friendly neighborhood blogger, one RW.
But, for those of you who don't necessarily appreciate his work, I suggest you view Dee Karl's, what I will loosely term as a blog, Islanders post for today.
Seriously one of the dumbest things I've ever read.
How that person has Submit privileges to any public facing website is beyond me. |
