Had to watch the game with a Chicago broadcast last night. It was pretty interesting, they weren’t homers at all, they actually called a decent game and gave praise where praise was due. What was interesting however was during one of the intermissions they brought on Eddie Olczyk to talk about the rivalry with the Hawks and Nucks. Eddie said the stadium was dead, nothing, notta. It even felt like he was uncomfortable saying how dead it was there.
I have been gone for a while but have noticed this while watching games, as well as a couple years ago I experienced the same when I did go to a live one. What happened to the fans?

I wasn't at the game live but from watching it on TV, I didn't think it was particularly quiet. At times I thought the crowd was quite loud booing Keith every time he touched the puck, chanting crawford's name for awhile after the 2nd goal and also heard a few loud go canucks go chants.
I know a few regulars were at the game last night, I wonder what they thought? |

Last night's game was probably as full as the arena has been all year, though there were still visible patches of empty seats. The fans did pick up the old thread of booing Duncan Keith and were quite conscientious about that in the third period. Makes you realize just how much he plays!
At this point, I think the fans still feel cautious. The wheels didn't fall off last season till after Christmas, so I think there's a bit of a "Fool me twice, shame on me" mentality in play at the moment.
If things keep going well, I'll be interested to see if fan enthusiasm improves gradually, or if there's one galvanizing moment that turns our city into believers once again. |

I went to a game against the Blues last year and you could hear a pin drop in the arena. The effects they use to generate enthusiasm on the jumbotron are just painful |

I think Hansen will score 15 this year, he is a feast or famine guy and I think he just used up his feast for a while |

I was at the game. Wasn't dead. erupted at the right times like when Kane was dropped and after the goals of course... Keith was booed the entire game. Not like the playoffs but not dead.

I'm just glad he finally scored on a breakaway. There was no goalie, but he still had to put the puck in the net. |

Not sure how long you've been away but the ticket prices, rising for years, have become extortionate. High high ticket prices seems to either attract a wealthier but less passionate crowd (like someone else should be doing the cheering for them as they already spent good money to be entertained) or those that need to save up to go (we need to be Cup contenders for this crowd to come out with regularity).
I don't think Vancouver has ever been a particularly rowdy home arena but it's been getting quieter for years. When security needs to be summoned to kick out Southsider fans for being too vocal, it says a lot. |

Now is the time to move Hansen, the return value will work as a stand-alone trade or package. Time to start filling some holes. |

Been gone since 2001. I go to a game every 2-3 years in Vancouver and was going every year in Dallas except the past 2. Before in Dallas they put on a great show, last time was early last year I went to a game in Vancouver and it was dead.
You may have something here with the fans at the games...not sure. But watching Eddie you could tell he was choosing his words wisely about the fans. It was almost like, "no there isnt a rivalry any more and in fact they dont even cheer. This was in the 2nd intermission I think. Anyways, regardless it is a great Canadian city for hockey and the crowd should always make it a little harder on visiting teams. Too bad |

I guess part of the point is that are the people going to the games just getting office tickets and are not real fans? Simply a lot of band wagoners? I guess I have been a fan since I was a young kid and going to games in the 80s at the pacific coliseum but the passion for the team seems to be fair weather stuff...the hard core post here! lol

Hansen for Harrington, Pit replaces Dupuis with Hansen, pretty comparable players but Hansen is younger and cheaper. Harrington instantly becomes Canucks best D prospect and can most likely play now.

I too watched the Hawk's game feed last night. I heard legitimate compliments regarding the Canucks effort & game play, to the likes unseen in Canadian Broadcasting (with the exception of John & John). Yes the Chicago Blackhawks broadcasters complimenting our team of full of "hair-pulling, finger-biting, dirty-hitting, diving sisters!"
It felt just so refreshing...

I realized something this year. Derek Dorsett is an actual hockey player, not just an @sshole.
Such a solid trade for him. Love the guy. |

For What? What exactly are you trading him for?
I find it funny that we are finally able to roll 4 lines, and the 4th line can win a game for us. Suddenly the Couch GM's want to trade high, on a guy who has been pretty solid, and able to move up and down the line up.
