Agreed. The only reason his name is brought up right now is because of DL almost buying him out and him playing on a 3rd/4th line. But he brings a lot more to the table. Either way the Kings WILL need to dump a big contract with Pearson and Toffoli getting raises along with Kopitar soon etc. Letting Williams, Regehr and Stoll go instead means more $$ to spend to fill those holes.

Anyways I trust my teams GM as he finally built us Kings fan a team who can win and actually finally got the Kings a Cup.

Honestly LA is still one of the top teams in the league without Richards on the roster in my opinion

I think the concern is more about getting out of that cap hit and term for a team that is near the cap ceiling with the talk of the cap total not going up next year. Do you really think the Kings aren't a contender without Richards?

I'm not saying Richards is valued higher at this point in his career but I do believe he would still be a valuable piece to a team that can put him in the right fit.

richards contract is terrible. he's AT BEST a decent 2nd line center, and that's only on some teams. If LA is trading him, they're either giving him away for peanuts, or else they're taking a somewhat less bad contract back.

There is no way Mike Richards is coming to Ottawa. David Legwand is the old vet. Richards' contract is way too big and too long. He's getting bought out or traded for a LOW return (picks or maybe 1 half decent prospect....still prob crappy)

Richards actually has a lot of value still even though his production isn't what it was like when he was on Philly. Philly fans should know this. Having a guy like that in your locker room does a lot for your team so him as an "after thought" cracked me up when I read that.

i dont think it'll take a 1st rounder to deal richards, depending on the prospect coming back. i can see lombardi welcoming the cap relief and a 2nd rounder if he's also getting a promising player with either an entry level deal or a bargain with term.
