Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Horvat's Rocky Mountain Debut a Success The Vancouver Canucks avenged one of their early losses of 2014-15 when they scored four unanswered goals in the third period to beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Tuesday in Denver.

"But it was pretty sweet to look at the NHL standings after last night's game and see the Canucks in second place overall, right behind Anaheim"

hey hey now, tied for second place overall. game in hand be damned.

You and I need to get together for a beer. We both know we were expecting our respective teams to be tied for second last at this point in the season,

Cheers!!

The Canucks haven’t had Center depth for a while, if Horvat keeps improving on his face offs along with play in his own end I could see Shawn Matthias getting moved. Teams are going to start moving pieces as injuries start piling up.

Nice surprise!

Got home late from work at 8:00, checked the score: down 2 at 17:52 is the 2nd period. I was like "Eh. Don't feel like watching Vancouver struggle tonight"
Bored, I checked the score thirty minutes later, and look who showed up!
Faith, instilled. What a period!

Working on a nice piece for our California road trip, started that today....

Man, you gotta be stoked as a Flames fan.(no pun intended) I (almost) want to root for them- playing way above their their own heads- I don't love the Flames, but I do love a good underdog story.

you know that saying, every day above ground is a good day? it's kind of like that. every day above .500 is a good day. much like you guys, it's a fun time to be a fan.

Ryan who? Honestly. Bonino is a better player. We fleeced Anaheim for a player made of glass.

Kesler's still way better defensively and physically. But yeah, I can now see why Ducks fans were willing to give up top prospects for Kesler but wanted to keep Bonino.

I believe the saying goes something along the lines of, "Today i didn't even have to use my A.K, i got to say it was a good day".

Goshhhhh.

Hey vintage, just a quick comment from your list of who'd be in the playoffs based on a 1-16 format in the last blog. It wasn't actually 8 & 8. It was 9 teams from the East and 7 from the west. Which makes sense cuz there was more teams in the east.

I'd move Hansen before Matthias at this point. Too early still for a trade though.

I like how Kesler called himself a 1 b centre. haha. Sorry Ryan, you're no Getzlaf.
He's a solid #2 but 1b? Come on now...

Yup, I totally agree. Keep the depth, that's exactly what this team has going for it. It's why this summer I got into it with a few Sestito fans and others who said we have too may 3rd liners and need a more "typical" 4th line. If your team doesn't have a legit top 6, the only way you'll compete is to roll 4 lines. That way this team can actually score 3+ goals on nights with the Sedins only score 1 or even zero goals. Becaue the other 4 lines can actually play hockey and aren't just trying to dump the puck and get off the ice before something bad happens.

When you ice a 4th line of Sestito-Richardson-Weise it's basically like an even strength PK, their job is to not (frank) up and basically try to give the rest of the team a breather for 30 seconds. Meanwhile now you have Dorsett-Horvat-Hansen "4th line" and these guys are players who can actually play at the NHL level and when they have the puck they're not afraid to actually try to generate offense. Those extra 10 goals you get from that line makes up for a weaker top 6.

Didn't Bieksa#3 say that Getzlaf is legally retarded last year? Still can't believe he posted that.

Tough to give up a fast player when you're not a particularly fast team.
