I think VanTel is tired of this team's core. If he's luke-warm on the twins then no one is safe. I understand his POV because I'm also tired of the core and I wanted to see change. If you are going to make change then getting rid of burrows and hansen is the logical approach. - bloatedmosquito
I agree with change, but that already happened with Luongo, Kesler, Garrison, being shipped out.
I think they stand pat and wait for the 20 game mark. And also see what Bo does for 9 games, not just one.
I'm not that excited about Hansen and Burrows being shipped out this early. |

Considering their start I can't argue with this. |

Yep, If they were 4 - 9, I'd be all in to ship em out for prospects and picks, and go for McDavid. |

It does take some chutzpah on the part of the GM to make moves while the team is successful. If you don't think that a certain player or two fit into long term plans, then you sell while the value is high.
My guess would be that JB has a game plan with a couple of players he would be willing to move to get what he has circled on his trade wall. I wouldn't expect much to happen before the 20-30 game mark because a lot will depend on injuries and how Bo and other Utica prospects develop. |

Exactly... it's hardly "writing him off" when you shed his obese contract and make room for a young budding forward. - boonerbuck
Only playing devils advocate here, but what's the point of "shedding" his contract if you are making room for a young forward? The point of getting rid of his contract is to free up cap space, which a young forward doesn't require. I think too many of you (not pointing at you Booner, just the general "you") are stuck on dollars and cents instead of the best players and the best shot at winning every game.
Right now, there is no one on the farm who could be doing a better job than Burrows for the Canucks. |

As a GM you can't have half the team still around because of sentimental attatctchment. You already have the Sedins in that situation. - VANTEL
Sedin's are still elite players, it's not sentiment. |

Exactly, Burrows can play up and down throughout the line up and still be effective, unlike Hansen... |

Yup.
I'm glad this team has reverted back to a puck possession/puck movement style. All four lines, not just the first.
It might be effective, but dump and chase style of play is so boring to watch. |

Ode to the Kings
The Stanley Cup Final, where was my rhyme?
So busy celebrating, lost track of all time!
Celebrating..wait? I was troubled, and hexed!
I was hoodwinked, hornswoggled, disillusioned and vexed!
We foundered on the bubble, as the Kings were then seeded!
Well, it was them, or the Hawks all along, we conceded,
The Canucks with their bench boss, were slowly impeded,
82 games worth of anti-depressants were needed!
But, back to the winners, & then the media scoop!
‘Just exactly who was, this Cup winning group?’
“Hello, Justin Brown? Or Dustin? Or Someone? Eh, screw it”
“Dustin, when you scored the touchdown, just how did you do it?”
“At a point in the series, the team was in peril!”
“San Jos.. hey look! Camera pan left to Will Farrell!”
“The Sacremento..er, um, LA Kings left their mark!”
“We should give them a stadium series, near
some grass, in a park!”
“And , Mr Muzzie? Muzzin? Muzzle?..Like muzzle a dog?”
“Let’s pan to a shot, without traffic & smog!”
And ‘Hey get the cameras, when the Cup they do lift!’
While NBC gets their interview! With Jonathan Swift!
The cup runneth over, I’m glad their runs done with,
Our team made some trades, and ones we can run with!
And this rhyme, took some time, the length of my dinner.
So, Let’s swing for the fences, on this Stanley Cup winner
F**k LA, F**k the Kings, F**k the Sharks, & the Ducks!
As I shout a little louder, “Come on! Let’s Go Canucks!”

I'm not opposed to trading anyone on the roster, if it makes the team better. My only point is that moving Burrows to open up cap space is a waste of a move if they are not planning on filling that cap space. If there is a UFA next season that they really want a shot at, and moving Burr at the deadline gives them the flexibility they need, then go for it. Saying they should trade Burrows so Jensen can have a spot on the team is silly IMO. |

This team is certainly not winning a cup as its currently constructed, probably not in the near future either based on the organizational depth, but yes, they are a hell of a lot more fun to watch this year than last! |

And who fills those spots?
Plus is that the message you want your team playing under. Hey guys great start to the season, Burrows you got 6 points in 10 games, and you are playing well on the second line. We're shipping you out, and gutting our depth.
Why are you all in such a rush to ship out our depth?
Especially this early, it's not like we have had luck with our youth sticking in the lineup.
Bo has played one game....one. - moondawg
Gotta agree with this. If someone gets shipped out I don't think it will be until the TDL or the offseason

Agreed. Cap space is only useful if you plan on using it. If Benning has an FA target in mind then I could see us shedding some salary (not yet mind you) but otherwise there isn't much of a purpose to it |

no one on the farm has proved anything at this point. It's been 10 games or so. Once they can show they can perform and do it on a consistent basis then you start considering them. I think the TDL is probably the earliest as well |
