Call me crazy, but I'll be cautiously optimistic until I see them lighting up the AHL or playing well in the NHL after the way we've overhyped our recent prospects.
Hodgson was supposed to be a #1 enter and future captain.
Schroeder was supposed to be a 50-60 point player.
Rodin was supposed to be another Gradin draft gem.
Everyone thought Corrado was on his way to becoming a future top 4 d-man.
Then there's Mallet, Grenier, etc. - Nucker101
I don't think the jury is out yet on Grenier but that is not really what you're arguing anyways. Agree with you, definitely need to easy with the pencils sketching in rookies for next year. I think one rookie transitioning to the NHL/year at most is a decent rate of turnover, especially if your team is doing well |

There's no point, you'll stop posting again for like a year then randomly show up again. Plus you don't troll anymore. |

I'll be shocked if Greiner turns out to be anything more than a good AHL scorer who can't translate into the NHL. He was one of the first cuts in Canucks camp this year for a reason. |

I'm sure TL did as well. Absolute beast PR move if you end up with the hometown hero. Don't think Reinhart would have been bothered by the pressure. Pretty telling that they went with the other BC boy Virtanen even though someone like Ehlers might fit Willie's system better |

I think both would fit into WD's system if they reach their potential. Two of the best skaters in the draft. |

I wouldn't be surprised if he was a career AHL'er but he seems to be the best of that old crop of picks (excluding Corrado) and has another year or two to figure it out |

Yea that's not to say that Virtanen doesn't fit, and doesn't offer us something we don't have (a (frank)ing high-speed, goal-scoring train) but it just made sense especially with all the crying over not drafting BC boys. |

I like how Kesler called himself a 1 b centre. haha. Sorry Ryan, you're no Getzlaf.
He's a solid #2 but 1b? Come on now... - Canuckleafer
If you want a offensively starving 2nd line with stellar defensive play then he's a solid 2nd C. I always said Ksler would be the best 3rd liner in the league but a one dimensional 2nd liner.

Yup, I totally agree. Keep the depth, that's exactly what this team has going for it. It's why this summer I got into it with a few Sestito fans and others who said we have too may 3rd liners and need a more "typical" 4th line. If your team doesn't have a legit top 6, the only way you'll compete is to roll 4 lines. That way this team can actually score 3+ goals on nights with the Sedins only score 1 or even zero goals. Becaue the other 4 lines can actually play hockey and aren't just trying to dump the puck and get off the ice before something bad happens.
When you ice a 4th line of Sestito-Richardson-Weise it's basically like an even strength PK, their job is to not (frank) up and basically try to give the rest of the team a breather for 30 seconds. Meanwhile now you have Dorsett-Horvat-Hansen "4th line" and these guys are players who can actually play at the NHL level and when they have the puck they're not afraid to actually try to generate offense. Those extra 10 goals you get from that line makes up for a weaker top 6. - Nucker101
Well said. |

Burrows is still a solid player, but that contract is at least 1 million too much, if not more. - Nucker101
Exactly... it's hardly "writing him off" when you shed his obese contract and make room for a young budding forward.
