Tough to give up a fast player when you're not a particularly fast team.

True. Which is why I'd stick with this roster for now. Ideally Burrows is the one I'd move, but the NTC really handcuffs Benning(especially with rumours that Burrows already refused to waive this summer, either him or Edler is what I heard).

I'm not ready to write Burrows off yet (purely nostalgic, I'd make a terrible gm), but as he gets pushed further down the depth chart he might be willing to change his stance.

Edler is safe for now. He's been decent and the Canucks don't have enough depth on D to move one.

It's not just the canucks that are turning around from last season. Utica is doing awesome!

Burrows is still a solid player, but that contract is at least 1 million too much, if not more.

Interesting that you heard Edler was asked to. TL and JB were stroking his ego (and maybe something else? stress relief?) when they got here

The tentacles coming off of Gillis reached that far.

In reality though would we be using that extra mil in cap space? Maybe when Tanev extends but it isn't like we have a Ryan Johansen situation coming up. (Or do we... )

I'm not sure how concrete that rumour is but the guy who told me really had nothing to gain from it, he didn't post it publicly or anything.. This was back at the draft and it involved talks for the #1 overall pick.

If all those prospects play one more year in Utica just imagine the impact they would have in the 2016 season.

True, I guess it depends on whether or not you think that 4.5 million can be better spent in free agency.

Edler had lots of Tort scars from last year, he needed some serious mental mending.

Call me crazy, but I'll be cautiously optimistic until I see them lighting up the AHL or playing well in the NHL after the way we've overhyped our recent prospects.

Hodgson was supposed to be a #1 enter and future captain.
Schroeder was supposed to be a 50-60 point player.
Rodin was supposed to be another Gradin draft gem.
Everyone thought Corrado was on his way to becoming a future top 4 d-man.
Then there's Mallet, Grenier, etc.

That is why I think Burrows should ride the pine so that he gives in to being traded.

I don't see Willie being the guy to tell Burrows and basically lie to him and say "I'm benching you because I think we have 12 guys better". The players love him because he's honest and treats them well and fairly. That's what makes him a good coach.

If Virtanen or McCann don't make the big club next year they have to go back to Jr.... same thing as Horvat this year.

Quote me on this, I guarantee we will have atleast 5 of our prospects in the farm or junior making the team by 2016.

Couple things..
I remember reading a piece when Gaborik was traded to the Blue Jackets from NY, for Brassard and Dorsett. Kekalainen stated that it was hard to include Dorsett in that deal, as he was a piece that made the biggest difference on the ice. Tenacious forecheck, tough, team player, who stuck up for teammates.

I'm surprised that NY gave up on him, cause I see what Kekalainen was talking about now. Glad to have him on the team.

I've bee a Bonino fan for a couple years now, I drafted him in my keeper league last year, and he is showing his worth. He is more than anything a great playmaker, and once he jells with his linemates more, he will continue to develop into a scorer and a set up man. Him and Higgy seem to be playing well together. Love the deal, don't miss Kesler at all.
