Eric Engels: CAREY! CAREY! CAREY! - EricEngels
Great blog EE.
Habs need more offensive threat on the bottom 6. I think it's more then time to let Bournival and Sekac in. |

Bourque and Weise? Really?!
Couldn't watch last night but that seems a rather poor combo for OT. Yikes!!! |

Eric do you find Montreal's road struggles a bit concerning? 3 shoutout wins, 2 lopsided losses and on regulation win against a crap team on a fluke goal. Why are they struggling to get their game together on the road? |

I agree wholeheartedly - one goal in the past two games. The top 6 need to get it going but we may as well give this team as many offensive threats as possible and Sekac and Bournival fit that bill moreso than Moen/Weise/Bourque/Prust. |

Galchenyuk!
He might not have gotten on the scoreboard last night, but man has he been flying all season. He seems to be getting better and better every game. I can't wait for him to get all the bounces going his way. |

Yeah nice play by Bourque getting knocked off the puck.
And Calgary's goal came after one of the most horrible shift from the third line I have ever seen. |

Love to keep it positive EE but man that was a bad game.
To win in the long run your best players have to lead the team. Other than Price last night, Subban multiplied the turnovers. Pacioretty was a ghost, seemingly playing at half speed, especially without the puck.
In Calgary, like in Edmonton the night before, there seemed to be a lack of urgency. Pressure on the puck carrier was slow to be generated and there lacked any kind of net drive by the non carrier coming into the offensive zone. Any D-man will tell you the easiest thing to defend is two or three guys coming in at the same speed and no lateral movement or wide drive.
These last two games were the image of the Habs of the past 10 years, a team that can pull out wins but is often ouplayed and outshot, a team that falls back on its heels at the end of games. A team that makes the playoffs only to lose in the first or second round. Inconsistant.
I agree with shaking it up. This team finally has the forward depth we've been hollering for for so long, let's use it and put some drive into the guys.

He's got great hand et great execution speed.
he just need to know when to shoot. He seems great until the moment he shots the puck. Seems tensed. |

they need more desperation, they need to get off to better starts, especially on the road.
Classic road game is an early lead, and a defensively tight and disciplined game.

Agree. Love the 8-2 record but let's be honest, it's not reflective of their play, and if they don't straighten things out, there could be a serious regression to the mean. |

at least you didn't lose a guy like Shawn Thornton. apparently that's a big reason the Bruins suck. |

There are many ways to look at 8-2 record.
Great record for a team that played more bad periods then good. But in a way, it's great to see the team winning anyway. I think it's a good sign of experience for a relatively Young team.
That being said, one recurent negative thing is the number of shots against. We definately need a second pair shut down defensman to play with Markov. |

Yeah, they're not really convincing. They had a few games at the Bell Center, mainly agains the Rangers, but other than that, their record is quite misleading.
But in the end, every points count just the same at the end of the season. |

Giving up the first goal at home? No biggie. On the road 5 of 6 times? It's suicide. They need to be ready and that's on Therrien. |

I thought they were good in all the home games. But they've been brutal on the road. And I think EE is rig in that it all ties into not being able to score first. |

I know he is got a great shot. He just needs to use it better. He will, i have zero worry about that.
Experience will make it a much better scorer as he got all the tools. |

At least they can lose 5 in a row and still have a winning record.
But yeah the penalties need to stop first. Then work on the details.
It's clear Subban and Markov are not gonna be given an inch on the powerplay. This means the 3 guys down-low need to find a way to work the 3 on 2. |

There seems to be an improvement in terms of possession, which is a good sign. But they do have a lot of problems getting on the board early. |
