He was so highly touted because he killed it in the AHL before.....I'm glad he is getting to play some minutes but its not the first time he has looked really good at that level. I don't expect him to all of a sudden be an NHL quality goalie because he has shown he can at a lower level. Until he is successful in the NHL I view him the same as when we picked him up, potential back up. - belcherbd
2 shutouts in the AHL doesn't do anything for me my point was that there is literally no pressure to get him up on the big club so we are better off with Markstrom than Tokarski |

5 years ? So you didn't want a run to the finals ? - Redmile247
People were saying to play Schneider back then too. It was a mixed bag. He got partly blamed for soft goals.
That playoff year he was scored on 16 times from pucks shot behind the redline |

I am not sure how 7oungo goes from the butt end of all goalie jokes to the best goalie in the league , in two years when he gets beat out by 2 different understudies? - VANTEL
I won't say he was un coachable but I'm guessing coaches had some issues with him. |

Umm I think you have the 3rd on the wrong side of the equation.
MayRay is on pace for 60+ goals this year. That is Stamkos territory. We will have to add more. - Linden_4_Capt
I'm willing to drop the 3rd but I need the conditional 5th, the condition being that if he doesn't fall over at least 50 times this year, we get the pick |

I laugh when I hear Luongo being praised , we have been trying to run him out of town for 5 years now. - VANTEL
This. I didn't like him for his goaltending, I liked him for his twitter account
Edit: I also don't see what all the fuss was about with Schneids supposedly supplanting Luo that year in the playoffs. He wasn't getting it done so AV tried something else, it's not (frank)ing rocket science |

He use to throw teammates under the bus , he only turned likeable as you said when he opened the Twitter account. |

I think he gets too much blame for the bad games and not enough praise for the good ones ....playing Schneider would have been a bigger debacle imo ...he was not ready to be put in that spot at that point |

And he was just BRUTAL in the playoffs. IMO we made it to the 2011 finals in spite of him not because of him. Much like Crawford in Chicago |

Burrows would have much more value at deadline where he can be sold as a Marchant style gritty guy but with hands and a conscience. |

Once again focusing on his bad games not his good
The Hawks were down 3-0 and if not for luongo it could have been the other way around , luongo stood on his head in that series except for one game ...they showed a stat in the games the Canucks won in those playoffs and his GAA and save % were amazing
I get the hate for the bad games but everyone quickly forgets his great ones
He was even getting conn smythe attention in the finals even after putting up terrible games in Boston

Yes and en route to game 7 after that 3-0 lead the Canucks gave up 16 goals in three games. He had some very good games but more often than not he was shaky and not only could he not be counted on to make the game-changing save but very often he could not be counted on to make routine saves. Considering how much love he got in the media and from fans, he did not play up to expectations
Edit: In that 3 game portion he gave up 11 goals on 53 shots
Editx2: 18 goals on 86 shots in games lost by the Canucks during the final, and the Canucks outshot the Bruins in all of those games |

Disagree there, I don't think he ever deflected the blame on to his teamates. He would own up or make a joke. He was the best goalie to play in this market and likely will be for a long time. Luongo takes a lot of poop because of the Canucks mistakes.

Taking into account the Sedins were great against sj but practically disappeared the rest ....kesker was the Nashville series ...and did a good job in the Hawks but luongo gets credit too |

Luongo finished with a .914 save percentage which is below average for playoff goaltending, especially a cup final team.
1. Henrik
2. Daniel
3. Kesler
4. Bieksa
5. Hamhuis
Burrows also in the mix.
Luongo wouldn't make my top 7 or 8. |

i think it was the over all team. There were all kinds of different players that scored timely goals, Torres, Lapierre, Bieksa ect.
That team just found a way to win games there really wasn't one or two guys that carried the entire load. |
