Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Preseason Wrap Up, Projection For 2014-15 As we await the Canucks' season opener on Wednesday, I take a look at some of the key points from preseason and project Vancouver's prospects for the upcoming campaign.

RFA's aren't eligible for NTC's, Carol. It was a pipedream all along.

And before everyone goes crazy, the pool rosters will be set today. The deadline was Monday morning all along if you guys ever actually read what I write on those posts.

Yeah, I'm hopeful JB can add a second pick in round one for the 2015 draft.

Most of what you write needs to be read through a filter, so if we missed the deadline it is because it was buried in amongst a bunch of possession poop.

If the trend from last year's TDL continues, it's going to be really hard to get a 1st rounder. Too early to speculate anyway until we see where this teams sits in JAN/FEB, though most of us seem to think it'll be in that 8-10 range in the West.

Fingers crossed that JB can turn chicken poop into chicken salad.

The 2015 NHL draft is being compared, by some, to the 2003 NHL draft, it's pretty deep!

We talking about trading Miller? They won't be sellers unless we are out of it by the TDL

As I just mentioned above, the 2015 draft is really deep, a pick between 6-10 will still garner a really good prospect.

Our amazing "pick 2 or 3 out of Lack/Higgins/Hansen/Matthias/Burrows" package isn't getting us a 1st or star player.

If Markstrom gets it going in the AHL then there may be an opportunity to get a decent pick in a package for a goalie and solid role player like Higgins or Hansen, or Burrows etc. if the team is not contending for the playoffs (even if they are).

Miller isn't going anywhere this year, not sure why some people actually think it's a possibility. Down the road is a different story, but I'm not really interested in speculating about the 2016 or 2017 TDL's in the year 2014.....

No, probably not, you just have to wait and see how the season unfolds. There could be interest in some of those players by a team going for it all. Any first round pick would be in the high 20's me thinks, so a second round pick from a bubble team might be just as good.

In a draft like this there are bound to be some talented prospects that fall into the 2nd round so that's where I would probably aim if I was Benning. GMs will cling to their 1sts like they are life support units

If he is being traded at all nobody is going to want him. Look for a Lu type return at best...

Top 5 isn't gonna happen unless Henrik is our for the season early IMO...he's the team's most valuable player. Top 10 is possible if the team can't score again.

So work to get as many seconds as you can, then look to trade up if opportunity is there.

A 2nd could potentially be had if a guy like Higgins returns to 20 goal form. But rarely do you see a TDL deal where a team trades a 1st for 2-3 depth guys. Or a 2nd for 2-3 depth guys that are having mediocre/bad seasons by their standards.

Gotta give to get. There's always plenty of solid 3rd liners available at the TDL.

So, when are you going to hit go? I'm pretty sure I saw all the needed player drops.

Some desperate GM always over pays at the TDL for what they believe to be the piece to get them over the top. Look what Buffalo got for Miller+Ott last year.
