I agree with Trev, it's time to get fighting down to a minimum if not completely out. The playoffs were amazing this year, and no fights. The olympics were fantastic, no fights, world juniors...etc etc.
It is time to get rid of old relics like Cherry too. His opinion hasn't meant anything since the early 90's at best. |

I'm very happy that Sestito isn't a top 12 forward on this team's current depth chart. |

Fighting should remain a part of the game IMO. However, while I don't have a problem with two guys squaring off out of anger/frustration, this staged fights garbage needs to go. Not a fan of the guys nonchalantly asking others to do-si-do to earn their paycheques. |

I don't usually agree with Cherry but when I do its always controversial. |

Agreed. I can't stand the fights that are a result of a thundering, clean hit. Also, it would have been nice to see someone rag-doll Marchand when he speed-bagged Sedin. |

The whole pre game skate to centre ice and have an easy peasy conversation about their upcoming bout is stupid. If a fight needs to happen for issues on ice it needs to be spontaneous not planned. I do agree that said fights shouldn't happen due to a clean hit but you still can't let your best players continually being targeted. |

I love how Linden threw MG under the bus with the scouting question. |

If players stop policing the game then referees need to step their poop up. Last couple years officiating has been brutal. If that means bring in video replay then you do it if you're so concerned about player welfare |

I'm actually surprised the NHL hasn't adopted some form of reviewable play system. Your absolutely correct when it directly effects players safety. |

It seems like the next logical step to removing fighting and concussions from the game which is clearly their stated goal. If players can't expect the league to correctly police the game then what reason do they have not to police themselves? |

If your best player is stupid and skating across the middle with his head down then he deserves to be targeted. I'd pat him on the back and tell him to keep his head up, not go fight the guy that knocked him into next week. |

I think fighting should be part of the game but mostly to settle score of a bad hit. I think the best way to cut down on staged or unnecessary fighting is by hitting the pockets of the players. If you look at the fight stats more then 80% of all NHL fights are by bottom 6 players. these are the guys that mostly make league minimums. The top 6 player fights are in retaliation for a questionable hit.
If there is a 10k fine for every fight then we will not see Sestito type numbers of 19 fights in a season. That 19 fights would mean 190K in fines and when you are making 600K losing 1/3 of it will hurt. This is the only way that the league can reduce fighting and force teams to play more cerebral hockey then goon hockey. |

The problem is the ref's are part of the game and many times over we have seen them take games into their own hand. There is not enough accountability and imo replay/play review would bring that. Many Refs are highly respected and many are not. I could name off many incidents where the refs had it out for a certain team or players. At times it becomes very bush league because the refs lost control of the game because they made a call that wasn't necessary didn't make a call and put a stop to the impending A$$jackery. I would like to compare the officials in the NHL to other leagues but I feel that hockey refs have a more intimate relationship with players and the game. I wouldn't be opposed to end fighting but I don't think it is possible due to the intimate culture of the game. |

Rock 101 has announced that Canucks are "all in" on Evander Kane. Apparently the offer is: Burrows, Markstrom, Shinkaruk, and a 1st
I will try and find the link. |

Your not wrong. When JT got drilled by Willie the Blackhawks still went after him even though on the bench he said he had his head down. Its a tough call when you see your best player go down. Emotions run high its a fast game. |

I am still waiting on a lawsuit against the league if someone dies in a fight. 30 billionaires have made millions off of fighting and if something happens, all 30 of them will have to pay. Hockey will always be a joke compared to other legit sports, no other sport has a penalty for fighting, you are just kicked out. |

All I can say is get rid the instigator penalty. Also, add a 10 minute misconduct penalty for staged fights. Those right there could sort a lot of the BS we see in today's game. |

No one went after Hanzal after he injured 3 of our players including Hank, but then again the Canucks aren't Cherry's favorite team. |

Kick them out of the game for a staged fight, it will end immediately. |
