I think the signings of Grabovski and Kulemin (not to mention Conacher) put the kibosh on Dal Colle getting a shot to make the team. However, he definitely looks like he could physically handle making the jump more than most 18-year olds. - Snowblind
That's fine with me. Dal Colle can only benefit from another year of juniors. It certainly won't hurt his development. He seems like he has all the tools to be a top six forward for a decade or more in the NHL, provided he isn't rushed. I'm fine with then taking their time with Dal Colle. |

Never say Never...... JT comes to mind - Ur Not Me
JT was a generational player. Nobody from the 2015 entry draft was near the same level JT was at when he was drafted. |

JT being generational has nothing to do with the main topic of conversation of making sure another 1st rd pick should never start in the NHL bc anything is possible.
Duchene who was picked 3rd in that year has never sniffed anything but NHL, same w/Skinner in CAR plus picked 7th I think (in a different year). Just pointing out that players can surprise a team but will agree that most rookies are not NHL ready. |

I don't think Tavares is a generational player. Sometimes I feel like term gets thrown around too easily, that is a super-exclusive tag. |

until JT scores 100 points multiple times as well as 40-50 goals, I tend to agree with you. I view generational players as HOF guaranteed. Lemieux (mario), Gretzky, Yzerman, Sakic, those guys were godly in their era. Tavares I believe will get there, but he's not there yet. Top 5 in the league right now? I truly believe so, but generational for me is a step above. |

He sucked all of last year and his spot was perfectly safe on the second line and got consistent power play time. I don't see why Cappy would demote him when he sucks again this year. - JimmyP
Last year, we had a couple of kids who may or may not have been ready. This year, we have two veteran guys they just signed to long term contracts, and three second year players who are all better than him. He'll be lucky if he doesn't sit for Conacher, never mind any of them. |

It does have something to do with it, maybe not everything, but something. Its a subjective thing for sure, the decision to put a kid directly into the NHL from juniors right after he's drafted. But while you cant say thst every draft pick shoukd be held back, it certainly is better to err on the side of caution and there is really nothing bad that can come out of a kid remaining in juniors for a season or two after being drafted. |

Yeah, haha, I can imagine. My 3-year-old already drives me crazy. I can tell she's gonna be a handful. Maybe this one will be my angel. Somehow, I doubt it though. |

Crosby.
Lidstrom.
Gretzky.
Lemieux.
Orr. (Colton, obviously)
Crosby is the only one playing today.
edit: I'm not even sure that Lidstrom makes that mix. He's on the fringe. |
