2 seasons ago Markstrom would never have been traded out of Fla things changed fast. Product of the program. He will have tremendous improvements under Rollie's tutelage and be back to potential in no time.

I agree thats where Bowman/Gillis will end up... and it will end up being no deal...

but i was just curious what fans would take if it was up to y'all... Cuz i think there are some deals that can be made that are fair to both sides and those options arent being explored cuz neither team wants to get "ripped off in the end"

The hawks dont want Teravainen to play againest them for then 10 years and win cups and look like dumb@$$es... and Vancouver doesnt want to gift horse Chicago a 2c for "nothing". So i get it, but i think there is some room to negotiate.

- gnosox1986

I don't think it's that those options aren't being explored, it's that the Canucks don't actually have to trade Kesler and the Hawks are negotiating like Kesler will never play a game for anyone but Chicago again.

Canucks GM Jim Benning spoke ahead of tomorrow's NHL draft. Canucks have the 6th pick. Hear Benning here: http://ow.ly/yuaa1

Benning on Kesler: if we do it, we want nhl calibre players back to help with (the looming goal scoring crisis)

- LeftCoaster

Ughhh... We bought out a guy who could contribute 25 goals in a north/south offensive role after misusing him since he got here & now we're going to cut into our Kesler return by taking back a lesser roster player and/or bad contract who'll likely contribute equal or lesser than Booth could have under Desjardins? Don't get it...

I want max value for Kesler, and IMO that's mouldable high picks & blue chips - not contender castaways.

Or perhaps Booth wasn't good enough to score 25 goals anymore. I didn't like Tort's system but we can't always say that players are misused. Booth was given opportunities and he couldn't capitalize. And I'm willing to wait and see why he was bought out in the weeks to come. There's a method to the madness.

I don't think Benning would just buy out Booth with no plan B. I' m thinking he cleared cap space for something else.

Under Gillis, Canucks didn't want to trade Schneider to EDM, Kesler to ANA. Benning isn't concerned about trading close to home.

Millers game has changed over the last 2 seasons not for the better but still he can be elite. Hiller is not a guy I would pursue as a free agent because his asking price would be through the roof and he is not worth the asking price period some idiot will pay. I like Miller not Hiller but moving forward neither of these guys are on my radar. Pursuing either is not moving forward IMO unless Benny can lure Miller for a 2 year contract at 5m or under. Which I doubt Miller will get upwards of 5 or 6 years at +6m.

Sure we can, because they were. Doesn't take a hockey genius to know the different types of roles/players/systems and if you take guys who aren't cerebral enough to adapt what got them here to what's being asked of them & attempt to force those square pegs into round holes @ this level, you're not going to like the results.

As per yesterday Miller is a DTC alpha male type that you want on your team. Swagger, attitude and arrogance that is brought to the rink every night.

Kevin Woodley (@KevinisInGoal) said Hiller would be a better fit than Miller, based on style and goalie coaching preferences.

I took that as more of an indictment on Miller than support for Hiller.

I understand what you're saying and in general I agree, but I still feel Booth was given plenty of opportunities in Vancouver with guys he should have been able to perform better with. All kinds of combinations were tried with him and he still couldn't finish.

I never thought goal tending was an issue going into this season. I thought the top two lines and a 4th line were the going concerns.

Don't want Miller anywhere near this team.
