My Wife and I have one beautiful mix that we adopted from a kill shelter. I want to adopt another, but my Wife thinks I am crazy. I told her it would be perfect timing. New baby in December, new pup in December. They would be best buds. - jak521
Dude yes I want this to happen at some point in my life too

Depends on how well trained the new pup is. Badger is just now 4 months and he's a handful all on his own. I could not imagine an infant in the mix. |

That's very specific! I have about 10 names floating in my brain and when I meet the dog one or two usually float to the surface. It has to pass a couple of tests:
1. Can I make a smart butt comment about the name and if so am I ok with hearing it? My friends are all a-holes.
2. Can I scream it down the street at the top of my lungs?
3. Does it fit the personality of the dog?
I don't make a final decision for a few days until I've gotten to know them a bit personality wise. Sometimes it's obvious - other times it's tough!
I've had a Malkuth, Aleister, Raelen, Corbyn, and Badger. - FlyersGrace
My next dog is going to be named Bowser |

My dog's name is Korver. Named after Kyle Korver. He was my fiancé's favorite player and did a ton of community service when playing in Philadelphia. I told her I wanted to name our dog after he Philly athlete past or present. She picked Korver. - PhillySportsGuy
She thought he was hot. |

The bigger problem is that we (as in the USA) have not produced true stars. Dont feed me the Landon Donavon line. - jak521
Americans, more than a lot of countries, will completely embrace foreign players on their own team. If the US started a annual season with other cities from Central and South America, it may be able to attract more talented players.
I really don't know how the leagues work in Europe or world wide. I just don't think Americans will get into the sport until they have the opportunity to see the best players in the world on a consistent basis and have the opportunity to see their team compete for a major championship in a major league. |

At first, she didn't. Then she read an article about him donating a bunch of money spending countless hours with orphans. He became a lot more attractive after that.
Edit: My dog was almost named Carter. She didn't particularly like Jeff Carter, but loved the name. |

They guarded our camps at night and made us more efficient on the hunt -- without the symbiotic relationship we have with dogs, we might never have been able to establish permanent settlements and head down the path to civilization.
Nothing is more natural than bringing a dog into your home. |

Utley and Barkley were both possibilities, but they became very common pet names. I don't know anyone who has named their dog Korver. |

Exactly. An episode of Cosmos explained this beautifully. It laid out the evolution of dogs and how they came to be what they are today. |

My neighbor's dog is Giroux.
Terrible dog name.
I call him G or Roo. Sounds more like a pet |

G wasn't, yet, a mainstay when I got my dog.
I would consider Couts if I got another dog. |

I think you'd enjoy BBC's Wonders of the Universe w/ Brian Cox. That series delves a lot deeper into the science. |

That might be insulting to a dog who will probably run a lot harder a lot more consistently than his namesake. |

If I could put a child in a cage for 6 - 8 hours a day I might be more interested in having one. Alas, that might get me put in jail. I'll stick with my dog who adores me and will never wreck the car. - FlyersGrace
