the potential entertainment value of a flyer/pens series is almost too much not wish for. - akane13
Yeah...
Pens vs Flyers
Habs vs Bruins
You can't wish for more entertainment. |

Sports and alcohol... just more reasons for people to be idiots.
I will never understand why people are compelled to subject themselves to arrest over a sporting event. - Tiogadog
I don't get it either... How do you let yourself get so unhinged about watching something that you have no control over is beyond me. |

Both Sutter and Vitale on ice for practice this morning. - stevens87
Glad to hear about both of them, especially Vitale. He was one of the Pens who played tough hockey all last season, and was benched... along with Engelland and others... for the failed superstar playoff mode the Pens switched into last season. I prefer the lesser Goc/Stempniak version of improving the team this season, and Vitale (and Sutter) had a solid first round against the Jackets.
Why does almsot everyone prefer to play the Rangers next??? A lesser opponent? Then what?
I think facing a much-tougher-than-anticipated Jackets team has inspired the Pens.
I say bring on the Flyers, and may the best team win (AND thus be better prepared for the Bruins) GO PENS !! |

I'm actually less worried about the team becoming "unhinged" than I am about the special teams battle. The Pens PK has become putrid and the Flyers have the forwards to take advantage of it. I could easily see them converting 30% or more and that doesn't bode well for the 'Guins.
As far as the Rags go... The only impediment I see is King, and from what I've seen this year, he's a little over-rated. Still good obviously, but the Pens have had a lot of success against him. He doesn't have 5 guys laying down in front of him anymore. I think if the Rags want to move on, they should "resort to tort" to get through this game. |

Good point... both the Pens PK and PP is struggling (at least giving up shorthanded chances).
With the inevitable bullpoop that happens in Pens/Flyers games, there will be less 5-on-5 hockey against the Flyers. For that reason, the Pens might have an edge against the Rangers (instead of the Flyers).

I'm just curious to see what the lineup will look like with everyone healthy. Who sits, who plays? Gibbons is a shoe in for his play before he got hurt. What do you guys purpose? |

I think Dan is having his best post-season since the cup, but his insistence of dressing Adams and Glass could be fatal against the Flyers. I'll admit Adams had a couple of good moments, but Glass is flat out terrible. I'm praying Gibbons can return solely for his PK ability.

I get defending your hometown, but lets try to not be completely ignorant. Your town is in the top 5 for most violent incidents for pro sports teams in the US. You can choose to accept it, or pretend everywhere else is just as bad. Doesn't change what is, and you both look silly debating it. - Guile
Born and raised in the area, but Philly is a (frank)ing hole with some good things here and there. I'd very much like for it to be cleaned up. But this idea that our sports fans are somehow worse than others is the thing I find amusing.
Anyway, obviously I'm hoping for a Pens/Flyers rematch. |

Gotta be Philly...
Whats a better group of Semi's than:
PHI-PIT & BOS-MTL
Thats storybook right there - MrBeanTown
While I agree it would be epic , I would still want the rangers , Flyers will get under our skin , the jackets aren't nearly as nasty. |

Kunitz - Crosby - Gibbons
Jokinen - Malkin - Neal
Bennett - Sutter - Stempniak
Adams - Goc - Vitale
Martin - Letang
Niskanen - Maatta
Scuderi - Bortuzzo
Once Orpik is back, Bortuzzo gets bumped.
I might change things up a little bit, but that's how I see it actually ending up. |

Too much science, not enough hyperbole. - wolfhounds
I'm not saying they are any worse or any better than any other fan base, but two of the past three seasons have resulted in a group of flyer fans beating on a smaller group of Ranger fans. There is obviously something in the water (mostly booze) that gets flyer fans on edge a bit more.
On the other side of that coin, the racial slurs coming out of New York towards Simmonds after the game are disgusting. I hate when the bad shine over the good fans.
*Basically all fan bases are similar, some have a few more egregious acts than others, but its not like an usher spits on you as you walk into the WFC |

Its quite simple, I am in no way claiming other cities dont have trash or ahole fans. When it comes to irritating ahole fans, I normally give that to Detroit for hocket fans. I am stating your city is in the top 5 for violence against other team's fans. I was quite specific on saying it is not a safe city to travel to for away games, not an annoying city to travel to. Its not like last night was an isolated incident, its every season and not just in hockey. |

Caps lock not needed, and you are now changing what the argument is about. I could counter that and say go to Flint Michigan then.
This has been on the cities with a pro sports team. Try again, or just let it go. |

I HATE flyers fans, but I wouldnt say they typically invoke a fear for your physical well being. you typically lose a few IQ points hearing them want to "(frank) poop UP ON THE ICE RINALDO!", but its not like theyre bloodthirsty organ collectors or anything. |

I would state my opinion of who I'd rather face, then it will come true, then that team will beat the Penguins. So, just going to pass on this question. |

Great write-up! I'm praying the Flyers come out strong and dust the Rangers tonight. Another matchup with Pittsburgh would be epic, and entertaining for all hockey fans. |

Im just pointing out I actually feel safer walking around in philly then I do in my own city. Leaving a royals game Im more terrifed walking to my car then I am walking in philly from a flyers game. But Im a flyers fan so I guess I'll be ok to walk around ,right? Every city has its incidents. from the muggers in the lot to the tards in the stands. Its bound to happen no matter what. |

No. Philly fans are THE WORST of any in any sport. They threw snowballs at Santa!! Then there was the Winter Classic incident. There are more problems with philly fans than any sports team I have heard of EVER. |

With Pittsburgh being the better five on five team and having the deeper defense, why are people afraid of the Flyers?
They are not even beating the Rangers at even strength and it is actually a big advantage for the Rangers right now. Looking at the team from back in 12 to know, there are a lot of differences. Remember Crosby Dupuis and Sullivan trying to cycle with no physicality what so ever on that line?
Or how about engelland and Michalek trying to play our system?
This team is not at the flyers mercy and yah, they beat us majority of the games this season, but that doesnt mean squat. |
