Cooke clearly has no self control in situations like that, and has shown it repeatedly. Department of player safety should make an example out of him, suspended 10 games. |

I really hope Linden is just waiting for the new GM to pull the trigger on that one.
They can't be considering keeping him on. Just look at the numbers from this season both team stats and individual. I'm sure any poster on this board could have gotten the same results from this team. |

Give him more, like the TEAM 1040 was discussing this morning, something around 20 games. The thing I hate about Cooke is: after he pulls crap like this he turtles. That's why the Canucks traded him. He'd hit somebody from behind and everybody would have to fight he's battles for him. |

I'm not entirely opposed to Keven Dineen. If he can get the Panthers into the playoffs for the first time in 12 years, how much worse than Torts can he be ?
Dineen's experience coaching the U-18 helps with youth movement as well. |

The whole front office should be looked at as well, namely scouting, (although very early to tell) I do not like the picks of Horvat and Shinkaruk. I think Canucks missed a huge oppertunity at the draft last year. |

Isn't a coach supposed to want to win? and a good coach will try to get the most out of what he has to work with.
So not making the playoffs and I think just about every player had an off year...
Torts = Epic fail.
Now, if we want to move some of those ntc's then Torts may have his uses... Want to trade the Twins. Keep Torts. Want to trade Wiese... err nvm. Kesler asked for a trade and he is Torts' kind of player. |

I can't see Linden (or the new GM) keeping Torts after all the player exit interviews.
The team was riddled with injuries. Was it an off year or the system?
The team couldn't score. Was it an off year of the system?
The team finished 12th in the west. Off year or system?
One 50 point player and one 20 goal scorer? Off year or system?
The good news is, the majority of the core of this team actually played with with Linden before he retired and I think that those guys will be very open and honest about what happened this year. Torts is done after those interviews. |

Canucks draft picks have the 3rd lowest amount of GP in the league since 2001 (the Ron Delorme era). He should be tossed out with the rest of the spring cleaning the new GM hopefully carries out. |

Has anything leaked out?
I wouldn't be surprised if those interviews are not as bad as people have predicted. The reason being the players on stage for the q & a at the end of the year tip-toed around Torts' system directed questions and sounded like they were defending Torts and accepting a lot of the blame. I don't know if that is the hockey player(s) giving the desired humble answer or the truth? (Then Torts rips the team for having a stale core )

If the players defend Torts and then take the responsibility for this train-wreck of a season then they better be ready to bring their numbers (both team and individual) back up to where they have been the last 4-5 years.
Unless the players really want the opportunity to play with McDavid. |

If Torts' system is the biggest factor in the equation of why the team and players struggled, then they at least could have said it was a bigger challenge than they expected, blah, blah, blah...
They almost deserve to have him back unless "good team players" are supposed to be like loyal dogs to a master that beats them. (a bit harsh of an analogy since Torts is a dog lover, begging yer pardon)
If Torts is back for the whole season with minimal changes then McDavid may be a possibility.
Is there still the consensus to buy out Booth? I wouldn't be upset if he came back for the final year. |

Speaking of Knee on knee's I am still really surprised that Bickell wasn't suspended or at least fined. Even Hitchcock after the game said he thought Bickell's knee on knee was intentional.
He clearly was beat, and the sign of an intentional knee on knee is when you turn your skate outwards.
Intent has to be a more suspendable offense. But than again I thought Lupol should of been suspended for his attempt to knock out sedin with a brutal elbow.

Publicly, Henrik stated in an interview on clean out locker day, that he thinks the team needs to get back to the style of hockey they had success with. Puck possession, etc. |

The sad thing about that tank dream is that even if we dealt Edler and Kesler for draft picks and returned the rest of the roster intact, we still couldn't come close league worst status. |

Did he also state that the team needed a time machine? This team was boring and mediocre offensively under AV during the 12/13 season as well. |
