I think this has been beaten to death but, what the heck, one more time for sh*ts and giggles . The vast majority on this board have never felt that the Sedins' game has been built around speed . It has been built on phenomenal skill, hockey vision/sense, hard work, and fantastic creativity (factors which negate any possible shortcomings as concerns speed ) Can we finally move on now? - Zogg

I think we're arguing different things. No one disagrees about wanting changing and a stale core(the (frank)ing coach said it himself). - Nucker101
My argument is it needs to be a complete change not partial.i will take the picks and young players for a few years rather than watching a boring cycle. |

“That’s why I think a guy like Jim would be fantastic,” Recchi said Tuesday from his Pittsburgh home.
“He can build around the Canucks’ core players and get pieces in there. They’re going to have to draft really well from now on and they’re going to have to make great trades. I’d love to see him back in Canada because that (Vancouver) is a wonderful hockey market.”
“I know that Peter absolutely loves him and leans on him heavily,” said Recchi. “He’s a workhorse. He’s non-stop. He’s just one of those guys who lives and breathes and is always at the rink and will do whatever it takes to help the team get better. He’s a wonderful person.
“Look at his history. He’s always been able to draft well. He knows what he likes and he believes in what he likes and who will turn into good hockey players. A big key to that is he gets good team players, guys who have a great work ethic and skill along with it.” - Nucker101
Sounds promising, especially coming from the good doctor himself.
If Boston sticks around in the playoffs for a while and Philly loses in the 1st round, it would be interesting to see if Linden interviews Hextall as soon as possible and then wait until Benning becomes available to interview, cuz that could be a large gap of time. |

There is no such thing as a "complete changeout". No team in the history of the league has completely changed out their top six, at least that I know of?
That boring cycle is called puck possession. Build a second line that creates on the rush. |

Canucks biggest need this year is a puck moving D that can shoot the puck. Once they do that the offence will start falling in place. |

The Sedins are going nowhere, IMO, for another four years, the sooner you deal with that the better off you'll be |

That puck possesion two man passing game that gets a goal every two games now is causing empty seats and people to chose watch Master Chef instead of hockey. If you don't believe am ask FA. |

Not trying to get on your case, but IMO no it's not. It's to build a top six and bottom six to be a much deeper team.
The defence under a different coach is just fine! |

Losing is causing empty seats; blows my mind you wanna get rid of the best two players we have? They finished one two in scoring for us this year
You obviously want to be the Oilers and finish last for for many many years??? I don't get that. |

If they could build a second line this team could do a quick about-face IMO.
Providing we get a different coach of course. |

Sure - we'll go with 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th lines, that should help us get into the playoffs. |

I've got to admit, watching some of the Bruins game tonight it's been majorly frustrating watching our fellow 2011 finalists return to the final 2 years later, then poising themselves for another run after winning the President's Trophy this season. And this is all while watching our beloved team lose in 5 games, then 4, then finish 25th in the same period of time.
On the flip side, if Benning really has been working hand in hand with Chiarelli all these years then that does give me some hope that if he gets hired as our GM a total explosion of our current roster (even if we could do it) wouldn't be required to get this team back on track.
It's been remarkable to watch the Bruins trade Thornton, lose Savard, trade Kessel, then trade Seguin and still remain this competitive with their own 1st Rd picks consistently in the 20s range.
In the end of the day, a competent management and coaching staff goes a long way in icing a consistently competitive product. If we can finally get that right then I'm optimistic. If we can't then whether we blow up the roster or not won't matter anyway. |
