Boy Montreal looks good (or Tampa is really that bad?); funny all the Leaf fans were saying how poopty Ottawa and Montreal are and they both finished ahead of them and one of them is now in the second round.

Last time the Leafs were in the second round was ten years ago

- LeftCoaster

Montreal is a decent team made to look much better against a young upstart team missing their #1 goalie who had a Vezina year.

You talk a lot of poop for a guy that supports a team that made it to the playoffs once in the last decade.

Surprised this is news to you. I'd take that (frank)er on my team anyday, but he can go (frank) himself.

If I'm the Sharks coach I tell Torres or Burns to finish Doughty's shoulder off(cleanly, not Cooke style of course) with a big hit if he's gonna try playing through that thing.

Burns is a (frank)ing beast, basically tossed Willie Mitchell with ease.

That Burns penalty was 2 minutes for being stronger.

Could you imagine Burns on a line with the Sedins?

I find myself rooting for SJ in this series, I dislike both teams but I guess I hate LA more, just more players that piss me off on that team I guess.

Burns would not be a fun guy to defend in the playoffs.

San Jose plays a more attractive game so they get my vote too.

LA play an abysmal form of hockey. That Cup run they had was the worst advertisement for the future of the sport I could have thunk up.

Really love the way SJ plays, as well. Large part of it is their actual roster though, not just any team can play physical, fast and possession hockey.

I'm curious how long it would have taken Vantel to demand trading Thornton, Boyle, Marleau, Vlasic, Niemi when San Jose was not having that much play-off success.

Vantel, comments?

Edit: of course I do understand the jury is still out, but the Sharks have thus far been playing @#$# unconscious

They certainly seem to have found the optimal combination to build around their core - a core which once almost mirrored our own.

Basically, they've done right what we've done wrong over the past few years.

not a torts fan but that is a weak ass argument bro. Weise sucked.
- anavar

Not at all. Complete mismanagement of assets. He stapled the 3rd and 4th lines to the bench and only played the top two until they were BROKEN.

Piss Poor Management of his players.

Perhaps you misunderstood me.... I am not claiming Weise is a star. I am saying that great coaches put players in position to succeed. Not staple half the team to the bench.

A "what have you done for me lately" guy like yourself would have been calling for Thornton and Marleau's heads if you were a SJ fan after one of their multiple early exits.

That's just not correct:

Since 2008:

Play-offs

Vancouver - 28/24 - .535 Percentage
San Jose - 33-35 - .458 Percentage

Although I will agree San Jose has obviously had more success the last two years but overall there is very little difference in terms of success (and of course San Jose, unlike Vancouver, has never been in the finals)
