U didn't think it was a reasonable offer????
Hmmmm.
I don't see the oilers dealing hall or nuge in any realistic deal - hugefemale dog77
Gagner seems to be the new Hemsky for Edmonton fans, included in every trade proposal.
General rule of thumb, if you're so desperate to get rid of a player, chances are others aren't equally as desperate to take him on. |

He's a fine player...he just doesn't fit. It's like (frank)ing Snow White in our top 9 with all the (frank)ing Dwarves we have. |

I absolutely think gagner can be/is a quality 2c in a different situation. Even in edm surrounded by some size and physicality.
Its the group we already have that makes him abit redundant.
I'm certainly not desperate to get rid of him.
Nor do I think tanev has even an ounce more value than gags. Even if we could also use a steady low pairing guy.
Not wanting the deal is fine, but to come back with hall is silly. The offer was more than reasonable

Canuck fans haven shut up about dealing edler. Does this mean he's terrible and no one wants him?
Does his rule of thumb apply in that situation as well? |

It's not that I don't think he has skill or doesn't have a future in the NHL, but centers of his size with his stats (37 pts, -29) and salary ($4.4m) aren't generally coveted around the league. |

Don't want Edler? How about Garrison? Bieksa isn't waiving. Hamhuis then? Think he has a little more worth...
I just want one or two of the big 4 gone (like 'em all, so don't make me pick)... |

37 points aint bad considering time lost and playing at the tail end of his recovery tho. I hear you tho. Plenty of Gagner/Hodgeson/Hudler's around this league.
We would be happy with a 3rd line grinder with all the right stuff in trade. |

His point still stands tho....you guys have been wishing Edler gone for over a year, and YES, considering the need for D across the league he is worth more.
I would give up Gags and D prospect for Edler in a heartbeat! |

Didn't mean that. Was just drawing a comparison for the sake of retort.
I'd certainly' be interested in edler. Only one of the 4 don't really have too much interest in is garrison.
Hamhuis would be my ideal, but can't see him getting dealt.
Be tough to make a deal for elder tho. Not interested in dealing any if the kids or the 3rd for him, and I doubt anyone else we got is enough.
A deal surrounding Kesler and the 3rd I'd be all over. And then tanev/gagner as lower value add ins that marginally fill needs. |

That's probably a reasonable return to expect.
Bottom line for us is: if we are dealing one of our better players (in this case Kesler) on a good contract we'd be expecting something in return of good value. A young player with top end skills on the verge of securing a full time NHL roster spot is preferable IMO. |

No disrespect but you'd likely have to trade for players that don't currently have NTCs. Justin Shultz aside, not many would waive for EDM at present. |

Possible yeah.
I suppose in this case, we'd have to hope some of those guys believed in a positive future in edm rather than a continued downward spiral in van.
Even if it just hope at this point.
Beyond kesler and the big 3 defenders;
I suppose tanev and dbag kassian would improve our squad and certainly interest me. That said; neither of them gets any of the kids or the 2nd/3rd overall |

From my perspective, we have 4 defensemen that would slot in as #2/3's on many teams and with some depth that can readily move up a slot or two, we need some scoring so we should look for a deal...
The Edler trade talk was because he didn't have an ntc at the time or it hadn't kicked in yet with the new contract. So, he was the most easy to trade. I don't know why his name continues to remains the most prominent in rumors.
I thought I saw a quote from him in response to possible trades and his words were something along the lines of why would I just sign a contract with an ntc if I didn't want to be here? So in reality, I am not sure how each of these guys ntc's work if they are complete or partial ntcs, w/e. |

I don't completely get it.
Like kassian is much bigger and stronger than rnh?
Yes. Yes he is
We know this doesn't equate to value though, right? |

What would it take?
What do you think they are worth that another team would consider? PK ? If I was LA, I wouldn't trade Doughty. What D-man could your reasonably see coming back for one of the kids? |
