I like what Ferraro says about it. Go for quality over quantity. Rather 2 good assets thatn 3 okay ones. |

Really like Benning - Whiskey-Tango
Apparently Benning had a strong hand in the Buffalo Sabres drafting classes of 1998-2004.
15 players with 100+ games, vs. 6 for Vancouver during same period.
Miller, MacArthur, Pominville, Hejda, Gaustad, Wideman, Roy, Sekera all outside the 1st round.

Even better, just go for one young player with budding elite skill. |

The most amazing thing about that list is that Mika Noranen was a 1st rounder. |

At least he got a sniff of the NHL. They've got a few 1st rounders in there selected at decent spots (13th, 15th) that never even got a cup of coffee. |

What I'm most excited about is having a GM that can actually make trades. Not piss off everyone with ridiculous asking prices.
Also is it too much to ask for nonuts to get fired and Gillis to replace him again? |

If he doesn't have the stamina for a full season then it might be best to trade him at the TDL after he's shown some worth in the first half of the season and just before his production drops off. I've gotta say I've never been a Higgins fan past 3rd line duties and he's played a ton in our top 6 this season. - AlexF
Its too bad. Higgins is the kind of depth player you would like to mold so many bottom six players as 3/4 of the season. The sad part is he's the kind of culture you want to change the other 1/4 of the times. We want players who step up late in the season and playoffs. Im thinking we are better off trading him late next season like suggested.

I don't think anyone, including Shanny, in the NHL likes Mike Gillis. Booner has a soft spot for him though - LeftCoaster
None the less, if I was an owner of a team and there was a possible trade with Vancouver or any team that would make my team better... I'd be pissed off if I found out the reason it didn't happen was because of a dislike for the puffy, glistening, red faced and unlikeable twat. |

Oh, I know it'd never happen but it would be a priceless storyline.
Vantel had to warn me from taking shots at Gillis in front of booner |

2011/12 he had a better late season than the start, March was his best month. - A_SteamingLombardi
What were his March stats and were they early March?

Piling on the players with lies just cuz of this season is ridiculous. Torts has misused the players and this system has sucked the life blood out of the team's offense. - kaptaan

Will the Canucks have a new captain next season? - docmorgan
I would think only if Henrik has someone in mind to succeed him and decides to anoint that player at the start of next season. |

So what younger guy are you gonna slot into the lineup instead of Higgins?? do you even know what Higgins does for the team? the guy is a utility player who can slide up and down the lineup as needed, plays in all situations credibly. some "young guy" isn't going to do what he does and contrary to some of the people posting on this board the Canucks aren't a bottom feeder.
They were mismanaged. The team was solid for a long time going back to the heyday of the west coast express line. There's no reason for the team to not consistently perform and make it into the playoffs with the right management doing the scouting necessary to find the right players to take over from veterans... - kaptaan
Higgins is a good regular season utility player yes. He not much of a playoff player thats for sure.

Out of the current players on the team, Henrik is the best player, Bieksa has the most character....it is what it is. |
