Will the Canucks have a new captain next season? - docmorgan
Highly doubt it. Linden won't let them strip Henrik. *cough* conflict of interest *cough* |

Benning said the #Canucks job would be an exciting opportunity but can not comment on the Vancouver job because he works for another team.

Benning comments on the Vancouver job and then says he can't comment. Already ready for this market.

I wouldn't trade Shink unless it was too good to pass up. I'd be much more comfortable with Lack + instead of Shink +.
Shink could turn out to be as good as Kane. Our 1st could as well. I'd rather bet on Shink + top ten 1st than Kane. - 89_hockey
So you would rather take a small player with offensive potential that already has a major injury before joining the pro level in the "A" and a 8-10 pick in a weakest draft in over a decade over a proven 30 goal scorer that is in a cap friendly contract and is under 25?
Kane is the sniper that this team needs. He battles in the corners and is not afraid to drop the gloves. Call me pessimist but Shink will never be that player. There are very few small offensive players that are successful in todays NHL let alone the Western conference where we have teams like STL, Chi, SJ, LA. And all that are successful are way more skilled then Shink. No offence to Shink but I am a realist.
Also to note, of all the picks that fell in the ranking during Draft and MG scooped up, not a single one has panned out. So my optimism is quite low. |

So (1)what younger guy are you gonna slot into the lineup instead of Higgins?? (2)do you even know what Higgins does for the team? the guy is a utility player who can slide up and down the lineup as needed, plays in all situations credibly. some "young guy" isn't going to do what he does and contrary to some of the people posting on this board the Canucks aren't a bottom feeder.
They were mismanaged. The team was solid for a long time going back to the heyday of the west coast express line. There's no reason for the team to not consistently perform and make it into the playoffs with the right management doing the scouting necessary to find the right players to take over from veterans... - kaptaan
1. depends on the returns for people that're traded, hopefully they get a young LW'er in return.
2. no, please explain it to me....I'm being sarcastic btw.
3. Although he's a very good 3rd liner, he has value and I'd like to see the roster somewhat turned over to make room for younger talent....should we acquire any. |

Pipe-dream - we're not trading with the Flames or Oilers, Buffalo isn't giving up their 1st overall pick, they need a guy like Bennett as bad as we do. The Panthers, kinda done trading with them, hopefully! The Islanders, no one is gonna waive a NTC to go there, bigger gong show than the left coast.
Not happening... |

The only proven result is Schroeder... and what do expect from undersized forwards... the others haven't even played in the AHL... so way to early to comment on those. Especially considering that we have something like 4 players in the top 10 in OHL playoff scoring this year. |

Linden is the President. The GM will be executing the trades (I'm assuming).
But yes, the Sedin departure would leave a void. It really depends on what offers would be available and the near-term plan that management has been given before assessing the wisdom of dealing them away. - AlexF
I am not sure what void everyone is talking about but I only remember winning about 5 games in the last 4 months I must have slept through the other 20 everyone keeps talking about.
BTW I think Oilers are better than us in 2014. |

Drouin Aulie two firsts and a roster player - VANTEL
Tampa isn't moving Drouin, especially after losing MSL. And the Sedins are likely hear until MAYBE their final years when they can potentially be moved at the TDL to a team that can send us salary back. Even that seems unlikely though. |

I never said that but even moving the coach won't change the foot speed of this team or the ability to crash nets or hit. |

Might make Hansen be a 3rd liner instead of a top 6 player finally. Put him back on the PK and off the PP... Maybe Edler could be an even player in plus minus... I'm not a fan of tanknation past this year but if I were I'd hope torts stays |

No, but hopefully someone who'll actually make changes for youth and speed are brought in. You need a mix of youth and veterans, we have the vets, we need the youth.

Hank spoke candidly (I read this morning) about about them wanting more defensive responsibilities may not have been the best thing for them. They need to get back to offensive zone starts; they need to bring their offensive abilities and concentrate on that.
Team NEEDS to build a second line, not around Kesler, he needs to be moved!!
Edit: that'll be his big "news" and thoughts at the seasons end. |
