Seriously been hoping for every win possible. The tank hasnt been wished, just inevitable

I feel ya. As a panther every year with this team it's roll out the tanks with Field Marshal Jovo leading the current charge!

EDM needs Ekblad more than you do.
- Chest Rockwell

I dunno;
I think this is the conventional wisdom, but I'm not sure I agree.

1. There's no guarantee ekblad is a franchise guy
2. We need wins now for these kids confidence. The losing has to be weighing on them. Chances are ekblad won't make a big impact for at least a couple years
3. We have nurse, klefbom, marincin. I'm not convinced ekblad is unequivocally better than all 3
4. Our prospect depth is much stronger on backend than it is in the top 6'ers with size. Especially at center. Which we also need
5. Unlike the unconventional wisdom, we havent passed on d for forwards. But drafted a bunch fairly high

Defensive prospect depth is very good tho. Don't need another 18 year old D

Agree to disagree. None of your current D prospects have the potential Ekblad has. You guys don't need another 18 year old top 6 forward either.

But we need an 18 year old defender?

Neither solves any short term solutions. And both are question marks. That's the point of drafting. No guarantees. Otherwise it would just be a dispersal [/img]

Many oiler fans have thought the next 18 year old is our saviour for about 4 straight drafts now.

Let's face it, any selection EDM makes this draft isn't going to turn the team's fortunes around next season. Turnarounds like we have seen with COL are one in a trillion; when has any team gone from picking first overall at the draft to contending for the presidents trophy or potentially finishing first overall in their conference?

They happen to have the right mix of young high end drafted talent and veterans. I just don't see anything close to that in EDM's line up. EDM's rebuilding the rebuild.

Well Colorado also had 2 other lottery picks in the few years previous. It really wasn't an overnight rebuild.

And then you go on to say Colorado is one in a million and it generally doesn't work that way, but that edms has somehow failed? So which is it?
Rebuilding the rebuild? How so?

No disrespect Intended, but I think ur thoughts on the oilers are abit status quo and short sighted.

Fully agree. As you noted, even in the worst case scenario (notwithstanding injury issues which are of course usually beyond anyone's control) Booth can skate, use his body, and not be a liability whenever he's on. If he can continue to play like he has been, however, I think we will see a very productive season from him next year. I think it's just a matter of staying healthy (which is easier said than done, given the bad luck Booth has endured thus far in his career). But again, I have been fairly impressed with his game the past few weeks.

Plus it's a contract year next season.

Wasn't sure if we were still allowed to use that. So, retool, reset, and rebuild are still in play?

I definitely think there will be some reshuffling when the new GM comes into town and I don't think Torts will be left with a seat.

Who else gets thrown overboard is anyone's guess at this point but Botchford and LeBrun continue to think Kesler is in play:

Far and above my favorite player but his time has come, did any of you guys see his composure on the bench last night

If we can simply get a blue-chip prospect and a decent first rounder then go for it

Good morning,

New blog is up, including a link to some interesting comments yesterday from Linden and Quinn. Sounds like Torts will have a hill to climb if he wants to keep his job:
