Trade deadline if the perfect time to sell, not to buy (for the Habs). Bergevin needs to unload guys like Gionta, Murray, Markov (if the return is good), Bouillon. Habs are not a contender and they need to continue to rebuild via trades and the draft....unless MB is delusional to the point to believe his team can make a run at the cup with this group. |

sounds like it was a real barnburner last night. also see that Galchnyuk played 15 minutes and Markov had more ice than PK. some things never change, i guess.
i am still trying to figure out why Beaulieu was demoted and how this constant yo-yoing of the dmen is good for their development. why won't they commit to any of these young guys? what is this team so petrified about all the time?
as for Callahan, why would he NOT think he'd get 6-7 milly on the open market? he sat back a year ago, when the cap situation heading into the season was tenuous for many teams, and watched 3rd liners like Clarkson and Clowe sign $30 million contracts with $5 million annual salaries. Callahan is a better hockey player than those 2 so why shouldn't he expect a bigger contract? he will certainly get it from someone. |

Subban would have had more minutes had not spent 4 minutes in the penalty box.

i don't think he's delusional and i think he knows this isn't a contender. but i don't think he's a strong enough or committed enough GM to actually make progressive moves like selling off vets. |

Beaulieu didn't play well with the Bulldogs during the Olympic break. He didn't work hard, probably thinking he would get called back up after the break. Management didn't like that he lifted his feet on the pedal, and recalled Tinordi who was doing very good lately. |

the diving was borderline and the roughing was a (frank)in joke though |

I couldn't help but think of how exciting 3-on-3 would have been with Subban on the ice.
That said, I'm confused with the offsetting minors in OT. It's either a hook, or a dive. Can't be both. |

well... could he really have been expected to go all out for Hamilton knowing he's in the midst of breaking through in the NHL? whatever at least they didn't replace him with Bouillon |

the rule is designed to let the refs off the hook and not have to force them into actually making a decision on diving. |

Well not all players let themselves fall down on the ice on a hook.
Now, you'd have a point if the call was "tripping" |

My point is that a player "diving" is trying to entice the referee into calling a penalty when one didn't actually occur. If it was a legitimate hook/trip/slash/whatever, then it doesn't matter if the guy flops like a fish; he was fouled and it's a penalty. But if he flops around and there was no actual infraction, call the dive and move on.
I'm failing to see why this is so difficult for referees. |

this is true,
they also just wanted to test Tinordi before the deadline. I've said all along, both of them will be here after the deadline. |

great game!! No shame in losing a tight checking, perfect game like that. Reminded me of the Olympics, could have easily gone either way.

A penalty can occur, that doesn't prevent a player to embellish in order to make SURE the referee calls it. |
