The natural question is how will Dion's suspension impact Ryan Miller's contract value in July? |

Or maybe he only really had one guy in mind and that guy signed an extension to stay exactly where he's been the last 2 seasons? Now he actually has to host legitimate interviews... this may end up becoming a bit of a letdown when it's said and done. |

First I doubt LaFontaine put all his eggs in one basket in Dudley, if that was the case Buffalo would have been knocking at Montreal's door right off the bat and they didn't. Second, he can afford to wait as no one else is looking for a GM so why not take his time and make sure he gets who he thinks is the right guy for the job.
People may laugh at this statement but the Buffalo GM job is a very desireable job. The new GM will have an owner who is willing to spend to get players, with very few long term holdovers he can easily and quickly build the team to his specs without having to worry about no trade clauses or limited movement clauses (Myers,Ehroff and Miller). He will have his full compliment of buyouts (bye bye Ville) to use and the team with or without a cap hike is not in cap hell. He will be drafting in the top 3 this year and maybe next and may have two top 3's in one of those years. The NYI's are in a very sticky situation because that decision on whether to give Buffalo this years number one or next years number one could haunt them because it could cost them McDavid. The Islanders are not a free spending team so they could be as bad as or worse next year. Then there is the obvious as what asst GM doesn't want to be a GM...if you say Dudley you are right but it's understandable if you think about it because he did the GM thing already and he is going to be 65 in a month so why stress out when he is doing what he really likes doing and that is sitting in the stands and evaluating talent.
All in all you have to respect that LaFontaine has not rushed the process. There is no big need for a GM right now other then for the trading of Miller, Ott and Moulson which will probably come between the Olympics and the trade deadline. |

Nothing about the isles 11th straight loss...oh wait they won. you were dead wrong in your prediction.. like one of your brethren mentioned in the comments, sabres fans are in no position to be predicting losses for another team |

The new GM has the ability to offer Ryan Miller Oprah money: 6 years at $9 million per season
Good God, I'm glad the name "Garth" isn't on LaFontaine's list.

LaFontaine: Good Things Come To Those Who Wait
Maybe you should take that advice and wait a bit longer in between (Miller) blogs.
Good for the Sabres about LaFontaine being patient. |

Garth---Please stop suggesting Pegula/Sabres/Darcy/Patty, or whoever is running the show, that they throw money at players!!!! The salary cap and money in general, is killing pro sports. We want players that want to play hockey for the Sabres, not players who chose Buffalo because they offered the most (Leino)!!
How many of the previous Stanley Cup winners did it because they have a bunch of high priced free agents??
Let the Sabres build a team! If Ryan miller wants to go somewhere where he will get paid a ton, let him!! If he wants to play for the Sabres for a reasonable contract, that is great!! To suggest the Sabres should pay him $9 mil per season is a joke!! |

So no penalty call on the play but Cowen still gets a hearing? Do the refs somehow get reprimanded then? |
