Staz is very good. We aren't trading the Norris Trophy winner for him. Remember, Subban is still quite young as well.

Thanks, I just didn't know how to answer him without sounding like a jerk!

Did i really need to qualify that comment?

What more needs to be said? You need me to explain the multitude of obvious
reasons why e johnson is far superior and worth far more than gorges?

I'll venture out and say Avs could use a player like Josh Gorges. He's reliable defensively and blocks alot of shots (the type of player Roy would want) but he come with a $3.9 million salary for another 4 years. Not sure Montreal want to part ways but they have to resign Markov and Subban for next year and that by itself could cost the Habs over 12 millions for next year. Also, Lars Eller must resign and he should get a healthy raise. I know it's 4 players for 2 but Gorges could be part of it. Don't know what the Avs' 4th line looks like but Ryan Whyte is playing great hockey.

Neither was Gretzky being traded. Or Lindros doing what he did. Right?

Weird things happen in pro sports.

Montreal admittedly needs a top flight W with size who hits and can be around for a long time with the young group of centers Montreal has..

Colorado admittedly needs a top flight #1 D guy who can QB the PP and be around for a long time with the young group that colorado has going forward.

It's actually quite a nice swap if you think about it without the homer goggles on. I'm trying.

Lol. And yes, Statsny is the reincarnation of Joe Sakic. Didn't you know that?

When Subban wins the Norris in a full season i'll agree.

He won in a short year where the entire league was basically a sham from team to team all season.

He is a great player, of course.. top 5 in the NHL? I dunno.

To Montreal: Statsny, McGinn

To Colorado: Gorges, Eller, pick, prospect.

That makes a good amount of sense on both ends.

Alot of teams could use a player like gorges. The avs included.

Not a great contract, but still a decent piece

I don't think he really believed it would be a one for one. He's a smarter hockey guy than that. Thanks for the jab. Other teams fans never overvalue their players, I know.

At this point, Gorges is way overpaid. He's slowed down tremendously since last year.

I will ignore the Subban issue and just let things play out.

The trade you propose makes sense. Of course, we need to know the pick and the prospect....

Best of luck with what is clearly your very recent interest in hockey. The little black thing is called a puck, and the funny looking shoes are called skates.

Every fanbase has a little homer in em. Just maybe mtl a little worse than most..

But for realz, it sounded like he was explaining why he thought it was relative. Failed first overall, bust etc.
but he's not. He's been all world for them this year and their #1 by a country mile.

Johnson has had some injury issues and struggled abit, but hes really coming around.
Might never be the true elite superstar guy it looked like he would be. But a very solid top pairing guy long term. Certainly on a different level than gorges.

At this point I think Roy and Sakic would be content to mold 'their' team at the expense of getting shafted just a hair on the pick/prospect.

Once this team is set the way they want it.. you're looking at:

Duchene
MacKinnon
RoR
Landeskog
EJ
Hejda
Benoit (GREAT offseason grab for cheap)
Barrie
Elliot (future)
Tanguay is only 33..
Varly is young..

That's a lot of talent under the age of 25 that's just ready to explode.

Teams having to face top 2 lines for the next 10+ years that include Duchene, RoR, Landeskog, MacKinnon, and others.. well that's just not fair.

We stick a top notch D guy in that lineup and it's going to be deadly. Chicago is what I think they're trying to emulate.

Fast, skilled forwards.. puck moving, skating, exceptional awareness on D. Nobody is going to beat you up, but if you can't play hockey........

lol.

Weber, Suter, EK65, Keith, Petro, Doughty, etc.etc.

Subban is on the top 10 list somewhere, but one short year where he won the Norris doesn't make him the best in the NHL.

Those other guys haven't won a Norris yet and I would bet you that 99% of the people outside of Montreal would take a lot of them before they'd take Subban.

Kid has already held out on his team once over an attitude problem as well.

So that means the Blackhawks cup last season is a joke???
Many predicted comments like that before the season started last season.
The "its a short season, that's why ..." comment is old. By the looks of it, Subban will spend his career proving people wrong. And that is all better for him because he is pace to break records.

PK could win it again... he's playing very well. So is Markov btw!!!

As for your trade... depends on the pick and prospect.

Chicago won 2 years prior to that.

Did PK Subban win the goddamn Norris Trophy 2 years prior to this one?

I agree with the bolded. But I also believe that part of the reason is because he is far from likeable, and part of the reason is that he is black. You can tell me otherwise, but that's my opinion. Furthermore, he is so much better defensively than he was two years ago, or even last year, the change has been surprising even to us homer Hab fans. is he the best? No sir. But he's top 5 for sure.

It's the internet, there's been far less argued far more. But it is silly.
