I'm not disagreeing. But at the same time, they couldn't hop in the time machine and undo the previous offseason this summer (new CBA forbids this). I'd more than likely trade Streit's shot for Carle's youth and more rounded game. As far as soft puck movers go, Carle was decent in his own zone.
Either way, the Flyers need a top defenseman in the worst kind of way. I don't see that player becoming available soon, either. - BulliesPhan87
Top d men are not usually being shopped but I think it's time to explore trading B Schenn and a 1st for the best d man they can. |

Or they can trade Schenn and/or other players for extra early-round picks, draft, and stop trading away their existing prospects in order to sign aging vets.
Or they can keep doing what they've been doing, cycling between good enough and futility and making it easier to laugh at the Flyers for poor personnel and cap management decisions. |

Wasn't even top 3. I had very little problem with his hit the other night he did leave his feet but he never contacted the head. |

I saw them making fun of Zach Bogosian on their feed. They'd take him in a second and they know it. |

Unfortunately the next coming of Ron Francis was untradeable for the last couple years..you could have landed Yandle. |

Give it a little time the Sabers will be unloading soon enough. - nbartley9
Ehrhoff carreer numbers match Paul Martin's. He'd be a very good pick up for the Flyers. (Part of me want them to trade for Myers though) |

I voted for other. I'd say the Pens forecheck/center ice coverage is what I'm loving most. Way too often in recent years they would have 2 guys going balls out deep in the other zone trying to create turnovers, with bad gap coverage, leaving 1 forward to try and clog all of center ice. It looks like the Pens are finally realizing that with their skill, a turnover at center is just as effective as one deep in the other zone, and a lot easier to achieve. |

Exactly ... Flyers fans wouldn't have traded Ron Francis II for Yandle two years ago. That shows how retarded they all are. Phoenix would have been robbed in that deal. Couturier to me is at best a third line guy that won't achieve his first year play again. Could be wrong, but ... |

Myers would be a very nice train wreck to watch in Philly, but I hear they are more interested in Dan Focht, I hear they like his size, and toughness.
Its a shame I want the Flyers to be good, hating them is far more enjoyable when they are a good hockey team. |

I'd unload Schenn as fast as possible. He is leading the team in goals with one. His stock will never be higher.

With how bad Buffalo is and if Myers continues to struggle, I wonder if Buffalo buys him and Leino out after this year. |

I'd be comfortable with that for the right defenseman. No slight to BSchenn, but he's not a player I see as being or becoming untouchable.
Of course, at the Flyers current pace, that 1st may be too good to trade |

What do you guys think about the new Wilkes-Barre black jerseys?
Besides the Vegas gold instead of the old yellow, they are very reminiscent of the great, old 1990ish Penguins jerseys. The striping is the same, and even the socks are the same.
I would LOVE for the Pens to adopt this change.

I still wouldn't make that trade. Regardless of your distaste for him, I still like what I see. He's still very, very early on his career path.
I stand by the statement that the reason he's been so actively talked about in the trade mill is his big potential, the defensive prowess he already possesses, and... well, the Flyers reputation for trading good young talent. |

Potential is a word that gets more coaches fired than hired. You have needed a power play point man and a big time D man for years. So, you wouldn't want to trade a young player, who has regressed, for a big need? Great - Couturier is a third line defensive specialist at best. He isn't a top six forward. Hell, if we didn't have Letang (which we don't now), I might be intrigued enough to trade Sutter for Yandle and even though Sutter doesn't have the "defensive prowess" of RFII, I think he is a better player.
Part of my distaste for him is Flyer fans calling him the next coming of Ron Francis. I respect Ron Francis and I don't see one ounce of Ron Francis in Couturier. |

I think you're significantly underrating him, simple as that. And that's fine, I don't expect we need to agree. I don't think having a need means you should trade one of your best young players for whatever player is available, either. I think Yandle is a fine player and all, but for a team that's not really near a 'win now' mode I don't think it really makes sense.
Personally, I've never seen anybody use the name Ron Francis for Couts, except you, of course. |

I don't even know if Couturier alone would be able to get Yandle in a trade. Two years ago, maybe. |

Perhaps this trade happening two years ago would have made the Flyers a better team.
The fact is you had tons of quality youngsters on your team and unloading one of them for an allstar defenseman would look real good. But again, you didn't...

I think the Flyers are always in a "win now" mode......and that's not a bad thing. All of their moves indicate that's how they feel internally. If Yandle is a true puck moving #1 defensman they should have jumped all over that deal for Couturier. I honestly don't see enough of Yandle myself to form my own opinion, but the value of puck moving defensman has skyrocketed in the NHL. No further evidence is needed when you have Streit getting the money he got. |
