the funny thing is you don't need a press pass to write a good story..you could live in guam and cover this team.

This was his response on twitter

Arthur Staple ‏@StapeNewsday 10m

@DSpogolf @jaxson99 His QO was last year... Not sure if those extend over a year under new CBA.

So basically its not confirmed one way or the other

Lazy answer....NYI78 had a better answer...

ok talked to two people who cover the sound tigers and they believe that miiko is still property of the islanders similar to ullstrom...with that being said neither could claim 100 percent certainty but I just wanted to update you guys

this is how the old cba used to deal with the player's rights if they went over to europe. I don't know if anything has changed in the new cba but would assume unless koskinen had not been given a QA he'd still be Isles property

She cares about being a blogger. In fact she loves being a blogger. The blog content - not so much.

this is, IMO, the issue. Isles blogger on Hockeybuzz site should not be viewed as a symbol of status, but should be viewed as a privilege and one that can be taken away if the quality and content of the work is no longer justifying maintaining that position.

I will say I spent a long time defending her, but over the last year I can't defend shoddy work and lack of content. It's no longer about providing info and discussion topics to the Isles fans here, it's about press passes, free games and puff pieces. I don't have the time or patience for that poop, much less so when it's factually incorrect.

I guarantee that picture of her an Garth Snow is hanging somewhere in her house. That's what it's all about for her, the access.

and as a fan, I can totally understand that. It's gotta be damn cool to have that kind of access to your favorite team. But if you're writing a blog and have the dedicated fans the Isles do (face it, we're all nuts for sticking with this team over the past 20 years especially given the crap the franchise has seen) there deserves to be a blogger for us that does put in the work and provides some fodder for us to hash over, especially over the summer.

I don't give a poop to read about some player autograph signing session, I'd rather discuss our prospects, NHL projected lineup, keys to the season, potential UFA's or camp invites (not Wellwood) or the move to the new building. Give us something, we're here every day and we've stuck through this team through hell.

Don't flash your press pass, copy poop from the team site and if you put your name to it, at least spend a minute or so on google confirming it's accurate.

We've seen crappy owners, fraud, players moved to save money (or for money) top prospects trade for middling players, absurd contracts, horrendous injury situations, talk of the franchise moving, ridicule around the league and finally now, FINALLY, we have a franchise player, a farm system stocked with great potential, an NHL team coming together, our first playoff appearance in years, and all summer we get absolute CRAP for our blogs until NYI78 started putting some up.

Then to top it all off, frequent bans for pointing out lazy work and errors. Yes, I freely admit I was overly critical at times, but I point to the work I criticized as the reason for that, and could have been far worse in my posts.

Is it too much to ask to have blogs focused on the good stuff this organization has in it's present and future? I don't want to read where a player will be signing autographs. WTF does that give us as a discussion point? I wonder if he prints or writes in cursive? FFS.

**edited to add one final point**

if a blogger cannot find something to write about to give us a starting point for discussion with this team, at this stage of the franchise, after our best season in years, they have no goddamn business writing.

My hat is off to NYI78, without his work I'd be far more irritable.

Awesome. I've been trying to find Dee Karl's post season interview on youtube. I think she took it down? That is by far one of the worst yet funny things I've seen. Ever see that gem?

It sounds as if he's on the floor of the stock exchange. Could barely hear him.

Truth be told, I really don't think there is that much uncertainty going into camp. I think the forwards are basically set. If Regin sticks, they've got 13 forwards. That leaves one spot for a prospect, most likely Nelson with Strome and Lee starting in Bridgeport. On "D", Streit's leaving leaves only one spot, which will likely be Donovan so de Haan can get a full, healty season under his belt. In goal, I'm sure they're going Nabby and Poulin just to allow Nilsson to get a full year in Bridgeport healthy. Barring any trades, I think the team is pretty much set.
