Regarding strings, do I go heavy or light, what is the advantage of each?

Light strings are easier to play, but heavier strings generally give you a fatter tone. I like to strike a balance. I use 10's on my electric, but I'm thinking of sacrificing a little tone for playability and go to 9's.

I will have to check and see what I have even. I know I went heavier than I had last time.
