I don't hate the guy. In fact I think it was admirable that he tried to come back so many times. I just don't get the "love" some have for him. I never felt he was a number one pick and he became too much of a distraction for too long. I'm glad he's not on the team anymore.
- David_Volek

I'm glad he's gone too, he should have been gone years ago. But we've had this discussion on these boards for years: its unfair to hate on RDP because Milbury decided to take him #1 overall and trade away all star talent to make room for him. Its unfair to hate on RDP because Wang was incredibly stupid for giving him a 15-year deal.

I've always maintained that the reason RDP was loathed by the fanbase was because he was the most obvious symbol of all the colossal mistakes Milbury made while running this team and fans always viewed RDP as a symbol of all that has gone wrong with this franchise and all that has held the franchise back. That's how I viewed (and still view) RDP: I respect the fact that he gave everything he had to the franchise, but the mere mention and sight of him reminds me of all that has gone wrong over the past 13 years with this franchise.

I know right. I have nothing to complain about anymore. Except for Captain Jack but I am going to see how he pans out this year.

As for Ricky D it sure sucks he is gone. Worst signing ever and I am just glad he is gone with his no socks

You had to figure that would be the case if Ratner won the bid. At the same time doesn't Wang own the Soundtigers? Why would he want to move them to Nassau after everything that went down?

Ratner has nothing to do with Webster Bank Arena, its owned by the city of Bridgeport. The sound tigers have a lease there till 2021. Bridgeport is not going to let them out of that lease 8 years early. So like I said.. not any time soon.

From PB

He also noted that the Sound Tigers will move to Long Island, abandoning their current arena in Bridgeport, Conn. Ratner said that the move is dependent on a deal with Islanders and Sound Tigers owner Charles Wang.

The AHL team is not tied to their lease with the Webster Bank Arena, according to sources close to Point Blank. Any professional hockey team can fill the arena, not specifically the Sound Tigers, to fulfill the lease agreement the source said. The Hartford Wolfpack, affiliate of the New York Rangers, are rumored to be the team moving to Bridgeport, thus fulfilling the lease agreement.

Read IPB, they are not tied to the lease. Only thing that can stop the deal is Wang, and my gut tells me he would be willing to move the Tigers there.

it would be awesome if it is true.. not that BP is far away... But to have their farm team THAT accessible would be a dream come true... And like someone said yesterday... its a really good way to build the fan base at home as well.... if the pack went there... it would have been a serious blow to the new generation of isles fans on the island.

Also why would they announce that the sound tigers would be leaving if they didn't know how the lease works?
