I agree with that. It feels like you need a Doctorate to understand the playoff format. Not the actual teams that make it; top 3 in each conference then the next two highest in points from either are the two wildcard... but the seeding is just ridiculous.
- Panthers88

Since I didn't go to college or university, top 16 overall format would be way better. Now if they had a wild card playoff, that would make things interesting. One game, winner moves on, that's exciting.

JESUS CHRIST, GMGM!

JUST SIGN HIS ASS ALREADY!!!!

MY BLUE BALLS CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!

- MeatSalad69

What he said!

GMGM needs to pick up some offense, this would be a good start, they have a little cap room left. The Caps ain't in the SE anymore.

I like the Caps, but each of the last few years they have been getting just a little more frustrating, as an entire organization, to follow.

Hey can someone tell me if I have this right...

Top three teams make it. Then it comes down to points for the last two spots. One division can have either 3 teams make it, 4 teams make it, or 5 teams make it. For example, if in the Metro (lol) division it's PIT 105 pts, NYR 100 pts, NJD 98 pts, NYI 97 pts, PHI 86 pts, WSH 85 pts, and CAR 80 pts, CLB 78 pts.. and in the Atlantic division looks like BOS 109 pts, MTL 108 pts, DET 96pts, OTT 95 pts, TOR 94 pts, FLA 93 pts, TBL 90 pts, and BUF 82 pts... the teams to make the playoffs are the first three in each division so Pit, NYR, NJD, BOS, MTL, and Det. After that it will go by point totals for the last two spots. So NYI and Ott take the last two, or "wild card", spots.

As far as seeding goes, I think it ends up being:

Bos (#1 overall) v. Ott (WC2)
Mtl(#2) v. Det (#3)
Pit (#1) v. NYI (WC1)
NYR (#2)v. NJD (#3)

I'm pretty sure that's how it goes. It's #1 vs. WC 2 and then #2 vs. #3, then #1 in the other conference vs. WC1 and then #2 vs. #3. It's seriously more complicated than it needs to be. Just make it the top 4 in each conference, damnit!

In that you have the Devils making the playoffs, no.

maybe Nonis knew something about this guy that we don't. seems no one wants to touch this guy.
- DoubleDown

Clearly if no one has signed him as a free agent there would have been even less interest in a trade for him. Those boo birds giving Nonis the business for not trading him should be eating crow....

Jersey won't be able to take the heat of that division. Leafs 9th place is the worst thought lol... I personally think the Leafs are better than Montreal just based on toughness alone and the Sens got pumped by us last year, albeit without Spezza and Karlsson most of the time.

But yeah, they've reestablished division rivalries by making the 2v3's square off and the conference leader plays the 2nd wildcard. It really isn't that confusing though

They just changed it from 3 division winners and 5 wildcards to 2 division winners, 2 inter-division matchups and 2 wildcards.

The standings will probably have more of an mlb feel now, with them posting the 'division' standings and having to click another tab to show the 'wildcard' standings

yes because it is so hard to see who has the 7th and 8th best record in the Conference.

Guys I wasn't picking the teams who I think will make it, and I def don't like the Devils being a Panthers' fan. Hell, I even left Florida out of it lol. I was asking if I had the basic format correct.
