I never bring up DP, it's old news and it's silly. Almost as silly as people bringing up the Rangers of signing of Bobby Holik in the pre-salary cap days. It's a different world now.
But, most contracts Snow signs these days are terrific. - jimbro83
Wang admitted publicly that Snow had zero to do with the DP contract it was all him. Even I can say that being as critical as I am of Snow. Now that holik contract on the other hand... |

I remember when that happened, and as a Leafs fan I was furious.
I couldn't believe the Leafs didn't just up their bid.
What was it, $10 million a year? For a checking centre.
God, the NHL had gone mad. - Atomic Wedgie
Very good at what he did but a ridiculously horrible contract. |

The DP contract wasn't as bad as people make it out to be (it was still bad, but...).
If the guy doesn't get injured so much, and lives up to his expectations, than a steady $4.5 million a year cap hit for a top-tier goalie would be a pretty good thing.
Yeah, it ended up very badly. |

It was high risk high reward. I was never a fan of DP honestly for a few different reasons mostly bcs of his reckless style of play but if he even maintained his play at the highest level he achieved that contract would've been a bargain. |

Jt is amazing, but the media's been blowin this guy for ages. And subequently the fans.
Taylor hall deserves the same type of credit - hugefemale dog77
Taylor hall deserves a bit less
He's on a line with 2 other borderline elite players. Not to mention JT was 3rd in goals this year, a pretty amazing stat |

I don't really like to compare UFA contract signings to RFA ones.
But some of these recent RFA's signings, Matt Duchene is getting more money than Tavares, Jordan Eberle, Blake Wheeler are getting more.
Mind boggling - jimbro83
Matt duchene is absolutely in tavares' class.
Eberle had an average season, but had a monster year when he signed it.
Its marginally too much, but not totally insane. |

Okposo was you're favorite target of criticism during the season, but now that he's put on some muscle and a lot of weight he's a beast? Get your head checked. Okposo is an average hockey player, he's nothing spectacular. Cizikas killed a guy already didn't he? I can see him in beast mode, aka kill mode. Tavares needs to be dealt away from this classless organization, poor bastard. - trolleytracks
Clearly Tavares thinks otherwise being he signed a 6yr deal. ON the Cizikas case he made a very aggresive move in a rugby game. The kid that was killed should of never been playing, he was advised not to play sports as he had severe concussion a few weeks prior. It was a horrible incident and the victims parents even testified in court they didn't want Casey punished. |

Hall wasnt even close to exclusively with nuge/ebs.
He played a bunch with gagner/yaks
And even with horcoff as his center.
3rd in goals is great, but hall out pointed him.
Im not trying to take anything away from JT, hes the goods.
But the media is just funny how they latch onto a dude and glorify him.
Hall has a better ppg to start his career and doesnt get near the love |

Theyare both elite players already in their own right. It's nice to finally have a media darling in our lineup for once |

Hall is a great player, and plays with more talented players then the Isles, but JT is becoming an ELITE player in this league, no disrespect but Hall is not close to JT's caliber......yet.... |

This is from a highly successful team (oh wait, zero cups), captain leaves after 17 or so years, lose their star defenseman(zdeno) who they stole from isles to the bruins and then goes on to win a cup as captain. The senators, a real success story. Okposo was one of best isles 2nd half of season and playoffs ( guess you didn't watch). As far as classless organization, I guess that's why when players that refuse to report end up resigning ( Nabby, Viz...), it's because they are a classless team and the players hate it here. I guess JT hates it here to, so he signed for 6 years, Hamonic for 7 years cause he hates it here. See a pattern? Good try |

moulson is a great player b ut he is not a highly skilled player. tavares and hall do not have similar numbers, unless you are looking strictly at goals. tavares is a highly elite play maker with vision that is unparalleled. to compare hall and tavares is just flat out silly. but i understand that you're a bias oiler fan. |

Id say neither gagner nor horcoff are highly skilled either.
And yes they do have similar numbers.
Tavares career ppg - .85
Hall career ppg- .86
Were you considering totals??!! Yeah thats fair, tavares has a full season + 20 games on him I suppose u can say jt has better numbers than a rookie who played 48 games this year too..
No, Hall isnt a playmaker like jt. He's an elite skating, drive the net gamebreaker. That had more points in less games this year.
Vision that is unparalleled?? Whoa there homer, Lets not go too far.
As i said, im not attempting to take anything away from jt, he's a great player. But more trying to show that taylor hall and the aforementioned matt duchene, are both in tavares' class without a doubt.
But i understand the clear bias from you, you're an islander fan |
