I suspect Nonis knows that the longer this drags out, the more leverage he has (over both Franson and Kadri).

I suspect they'll each get 2 year bridge deals somewhere around 3 million per year. If that means they miss part of the season holding out, so be it.

But nobody is going to offer sheet either of those two with mega deals. With RFAs, management holds all the cards.

Do people think Dion is still so overpaid? I laugh when people like Watters claims he's worth 4 million.

I really hope so because with us not having a post-arbitration buyout available, Liles has to be traded or demoted, the later only frees up 925K.

I used to listen to his show regularly, and for a while he was ripping Kessel frequently saying ominously that without his shirt on, Phil Kessel does not look like an athlete. Kessel went on to be top ten in NHL scoring two years in a row. I also remember him being quite sure that Kadri should be on the Leafs the season he was drafted. His recent record opining on the Leafs' highest profile players is suspect.

That doesnt help your arguement much at all. So phaneuf is more well rounded and deserves more money. I dont think bogo is much better defensively than phaneuf

Yeah, not every really good hockey player is ripped like Lidstrom. Kessel was out of shape when he first started with the Leafs because he was coming off shoulder surgery too. I remember him huffing and puffing in his first few games. It doesn't really seem like it's a problem the last couple of years.

except they're not getting Franson at $4M on a long term deal. I would imagine he wants $5M on a deal that's 4 yrs or longer. He's an offensive dman. if he puts up 2 more seasons like he just did, he'll be printing money when he turns UFA.

I'd be happy with $3.5-3.75 for 2 yrs, but that's the best they'll get. Once you add a UFA year or 2, it's going north of $4M in a hurry.

Yeah sounds about right. 4x4 or 3x4 would be nice. Quit being a Richard Franson.

I skimmed through this thread and I'm so glad the big issue right now is about Fraser and Liles as depth players rather than about, say Jason Blake or and Toskala as core players. Man this is a more promising team and farm system than it was...

Also as per the above, Kulemin is a beast and an unsung hero, I love this guy.
