Swedish state television says Daniel Alfredsson will be returning to the Ottawa Senators next year.

In an interview with SVT Sport, the 40 year old admits he was tired after the recent NHL season, even though it was shortened.

But he adds his body now feels refreshed, and he really wants to continue playing.

Alfredsson says he's begun contract negotiations with the Senators' management.

he's gone, and Ottawa fans will get over it.

Adding Ryan will help a little bit.

Did not like seeing Silfverberg being part of that deal.

It's for the malicious to wonder whether a less-skiddish owner would have kept Alfie AND added Ryan. We'll never know.

Tough to say your team got worse on paper. I have no idea what the locker room impact will be, but for what it's worth I often think "locker room psyche" is a term used to explain away poor play or badly managed teams. That's not Ottawa.

They've been rumoured to be after him for a while, with an eye to the lowering of the cap. But I'm sure the departure of Alfredsson sped up the process and upped the asking price.
