Not sure I personally agree with Shinkaruk or Nurse, but all these guys know more than I do about the draft class. Good stuff, looking forward to parts 2 and 3.

Id be more interested in seeing all of the bloggers on this site involved in this. Would make it pretty interesting if they were deciding for their own team.

I think you'd need the site show runner to coordinate that. Was hard enough getting five bloggers on-board.

Good call. I think Nichushkin goes 3, but other than that these are all the players I see being in the top 10. Maybe Shinkaruk falls out in place of Horvat.

Fun article. I still hope Avs take Jones, however I will be happy no matter who they choose

Ristolainen at 10 will be a steal, long term I think he could be the best Defenseman to come from this draft. Has the tools to become the next Shea weber. I see jones projecting to be more of a lidstrom sequence player which is more than excellent. But I just liked weber slightly more because he brings that physical edge to his game that lidstrom didn't really have.

Also as a flames fan if Barkov fell to us I think I'd be in heaven.
If not i take Lindholm over Monahan since Lindholm is more offensively gifted j staal struggled in Carolina because while he's good enough to be a second line centre his style more suites a third line centre. I see Monahans play is identical to staal so that would worry me that we may only get a third liner out of this draft

Shame is only about ten or so guys actually put in work here, so this is more or less impossible.

But yeah, that'd be ideal.

He will be a top line NHLer!

Reminds me of Brad Marchand without the dirtiness.

I see where you're coming from with Shinkaruk. Like you said, it's a long shot, but he has undeniable skill. It has yet to be seen if he can play a complete game and he needs to put on some size. I think the Predators will go for a safer pick and won't risk it all on a player who shows skill but might end up being a bust at the number 4 pick.

This is supposed to be a mock draft right? It's not supposed to be based on what you think, it's supposed to be a prediction of what each team will do.

Interesting. I have a feeling I know what everyone will be commenting on.

Cloutier/Carolina was gifted Nich by Esplen's unorthodox pick. If that happens, the Canes are going to be mighty pleased.

By extension, the flames were gifted Barkov.

Esplen could have had Shinkaruk at 9 easily, but he nabs Monahan there as consequence.

Also ,the Flyers would be cheesed to see Ristolainen come off right before their pick.

Why did Shinkaruk fall this year anyway? I thought I remember having heard about him as a consensus top 5 last year.

Agreed, but I guess that the bloggers aren't looking at it in that way, meaning they're drafting for individual teams and not themselves.

Dunno about the others, I just picked my fav guys if they were left, which is why my love Barkov falling into my lap *code* was great.

calgary would be frothing at a shot at barkov.

torn between nurse and ristolainen at 7. I think risto might be the better all around player but nurse has that mean streak which is vital to the oilers. think theyre probably good with either

Frankly, that would (frank)ing suck.

I'm not truly familiar with either Dman actually. It'll be a tough choice, especially with trading up/down/out a possibility.

Nurse at 7 isn't a stretch at all. He's ranked 6th in the ISS final rankings and, although Edmonton has some good defenseman in the works, a lot of their defenseman are offensive defenseman where as Nurse is a bruiser who can play on the first line and put up decent points. Smid is good but he's a stretch as a first liner.
