While this is true, Giroux's first Q year was his draft year because the OHL left him undrafted (How dumb do they look now eh?). Shinkaruk was 16/17 his first year.
- AdamFrench

Exactly what I was going to say. You can also add that he played a lot of 3rd and 4th line in that first year as well.

Sure Shinkaruk benefited from playing with Etem, but Etem also benefited a lot from playing with Shinkaruk.

PS Adam, where's your list?

Hahaha, No it's not. The Leafs will not be drafting solely centres, they're a BPA team.

Well technically it is a "real mock draft." As if any MOCK draft could be fake...

Id be more interested in seeing all of the bloggers on this site involved in this. Would make it pretty interesting if they were deciding for their own team.

Tough to organize, but it'd be fun to throw the choice to each team's blog for their turn. That team's fans would have a day to debate/insult each other and vote on who the team selects.

But I just liked weber slightly more because he brings that physical edge to his game that lidstrom didn't really have.

Pretty sad that someone in the real world actually believes this.

you're the same guy that said all of edm good 'prospects' are forwards. it's quite the opposite actually.
you're also the same guy that said our goaltending is worse than our defence.

couldn't bring myself to read your link after hearing those remarks. sorry brah

Man, I'm sick of everyone and his dog trying to shove Darnell Nurse on Edmonton. Could Edmonton use a fully developed Darnell Nurse on their team next season? Absolutely. Problem is, it's doubtful he plays meaningful NHL games until 4 years from now! If that! Edmonton needs to improve now. That means either trading up to get a really good prospect, trading down to get an asset that can help immediately and then take a d-man prospect like Zadorov or Pulock, or keep the pick and take a player that can help in the next two years. That player is not Darnell Nurse!

Edmonton has a need to improve their NHL-caliber defence, sure. But they also have an equally big need for a two way 2nd line centre. And with RNH hardly blowing the doors off last year, you have to believe they are wondering if they may need someone who could be a 1st liner if RNH busts. If Monahan AND Lindholm are on the board, the stupidest thing Edmonton could do is take Nurse.

I definitely agree with drafting for need if the prospects are similar in potential. But the last thing Edmonton "needs" is a d-man prospect that won't contribute for 4 more years (and who has about as much chance of developing into a player of note as a d-man Edmonton could pick up with either of their 2nd round picks).

the oilers should no longer be thinking who has the shortest development time. no more rushing guys for need. we've done that and should be past being forced into that situation.
im actually totally fine with another year in junior, then a year in the A, and then spot duty in the show the following season as a general rule. literally not a full tim enhl'er before 22, depending of course.

and lindholm is another smallish forward. I don't see how the oilers are in desperate need of one of his ilk that unless they think hes gonna be a stud.

unless we're super amped on a certain player at whatever position or size, we draft the guy we think we'll make the biggest impact for us LONG TERM

I never said lidstrom wasn't physical. I'm just saying that weber is a mean defender that teams love to have. To be honest I'm only 17 so I haven't seen the way lidstrom played in the prime of his career. If I were to see both players in their primes this opinion may be different. And I never said that weber was the better Defenseman either, just that I like his style of play

Well Ian we discussed it before..... your way off with Hunter..... I love Domi, and Horvat and they were way more dominant than Zadarov, but realize Zadarov will get picked first......

Hunter might get in at 9 or 10 if teams don't want D, but my guess is he goes no higher than 12.

I dont know about some of these picks. Monahan falls to 9th? I am a devils fan and honestly really wish that will happen but hes too good to fall to us. Hes definitely in that top 7 everyone keeps bringing up (Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin, Barkov, Nichushkin, Monahan and Nurse) They will be the first 7 picks in any order. Devils will get Shinkaruk.

I hold out some very HIGH hopes that Horvat or Ristolainin will fall to 21. Doubtful, but some scouts have them there. Seems the 3 players that are most often put at 21 are Rychel, Gauthier, and Fucale.

1 scout had Malkin ahead of Ovechkin. I remember reading it from the hockey news. Olesz even said he was gonna be better than Ovechkin but Phaneuf destroyed him. We don't even know where is Olesz anymore...
