Not sure which list you are looking at. I see him listed as #4 behind Reilly, Reinhart, and Murray. |

gagner and the 7th for the 14 and 19th?!!
we give up the 2 best pieces in the deal.
why god why!!?? - hugefemale dog77
gagner gets thrown in a lot of trade possibilities but being that he is a RFA doesn't that either make him a tougher asset to move or a less valuable ? there's no guarantee he would want to go anywhere and he probably likes his current situation |

I don't see how being a RFA makes you less valuable. You own his rights and unless someone wants to offer sheet him you aren't losing them. |

Well yeah they could have finished higher than say, the Leafs, Nabokov was hanging around .900 the whole season and in to the playoffs. They were a good possession team that got bad goaltending. A .700 winning percentage down the stretch is definitely not indicative of their talent, who could argue that? I guess what im getting at is that more than just believing in their system and gaining confidence is that were winning because they were legitimately good. - Jack-artist
i suppose that we'll have to disagree on what our parameters of "good" are.
8th in the east narrowly isnt what id consider that good. especially since they had to go on a prolonged streak at the end just to get in that final spot.
and that prolonged streak at the end is just the sort of snowballing im talking about when a team thats fairly mediocre gains some confidence.
and what good are we debating here? that the islanders are actually elite and wouldve been so with better goaltending? u really think that? |

how is he less valuable? we own the asset.
and dont even bother attempting to pontificate how he could possibly be less valuable than either a 14th or 19th pick.
again; we give up the 2 best assets in that deal by a large margin. terrible deal for the oilers |

I'm not questioning anything in that deal
More just asking if ppl understand that trading gagner to a team he doesn't want to be with could be a problem ... What's to stop him from pulling an O'Reilly
If you allow the team to talk to him and reach a deal then he is full value , but right now as an unsigned player any team would have to be sure he wanted to be there |

I can confirm this. Refs like myself, and CaptEO delete the posts that violate the CoC. We also hand out the bans. - jtommyt
And how does doing this make you feel inside? I am curious from a scientific standpoint? |

this. i went and had a look as soon as i read the blog too...
and to use his age as a detraction, while at the same time ignore the fact that its been spent playing against men in a pro league is pretty funny. |

i see your point, but i think that goes without saying. no deal would be reached without sorting his side of it anyway.
i suppose if u look at it that way, it could limit the number of teams u can make a deal with. but if he wants to play, he signs. theyll own his rights if u just dealt him.
he could ostensibly do the same to us i guess.
i dont think his RFA status lowers his value whatsoever. in fact quite the opposite |

I agree on the premise that he doesn't come with a huge cap hit and if another team wants him they can work out a number that works |

I remember when he was drafted they said he made mistakes quite a bit but also made impact plays. Opposite of Brodin. I wonder if he's ironed the mistakes out. |

We already have our big center in benn and we need a slick 2c enter lindholm. What would you guys want to move 7th to 10th? |
|
|
|
Are you suggesting that when the Oilers draft a prospect that doesn't look to promising that it was simply because they didn't follow their draft list? - Nucker101
Yes because our draft list goes
#1consensus pick
?
?
?
? Etc
Edit: any Oil King player we can get our hands on will substitute for any of the ? just fine |

You have a nice couple prospects in Ritchie and Chiasson.
Would a 7th and both seconds or the 7th and a prospect like Musil for 10th and Ritchie/Chiasson be fair? I guess it depends on the talent drop between Lindholm and say Ristolainen is. |

while i agree that hes certainly a bluechipper and we should be stoked. clouts is ridiculous on his klefbom claims.
having an opinion is fine, but dont claim it as fact when you really dont have alot of info to back it up. klefbom's only played in 66 games pro games in the sel in 3 years.
including the wjc 2 years ago (where he was admittedly fantastic) i bet he's only seen him in about 5 games total.
this was meant to be a big year for him. he was finally gonna get top pairing mins (apparently he did to begin with and was playing well) and woulda had a great chance to develop and refine his game. then went down to a season ender 11 games in... |
